I read the other day about Royal Caribbean.  They are not playing around.  If you go unvaccinated, they will test you and charge you for it, plus have other charges as well.  You will be required to wear a mask over entire ship.  You cannot use certain areas and the casino was definitely mentioned.

I was wondering how they would learn if you were vaccinated or not (especially travelling from Florida), but I guess if you have to fill out paperwork like Princess has us do online, they might be requesting a copy of vaccination card.  I praise them for what they are trying to accomplish and looking after the safety of passengers and crew.

Is someone going to be enforcing that unvaccinated wear masks, socially distance, and stay out of specific areas?  Historically, crew has not been very interested in enforcing similar rules, like hogging  chairs around the pool. So  I don’t know how well the Covid precautions will be enforced. And will they really disembark passengers who fail to comply? If the unvaccinated are allowed on board and Covid precautions are not enforced then I’m not sure you can say that they deserve any praise for looking out after the safety of passengers and crew.

I agree, I do not see members of the crew wanting to get into confrontational situations.

The crew may not want to confront unvaccinated passengers, but I will bet there there will be enough vaccinated passengers like me who will point out people breaking the rules, and they will have no alternative.  I will not compromise my safety just to appease an ignorant minority.

We will see. None of us really know how this will be handled until situations arise. And even then I don't know if we will find consistency between lines or even between ships in the same cruise line.

You wonder if a lot of fights will break out, especially if there is a lot of consumption of alcohol.

Provided that there is a way to identify the unvaccinated.

I suspect they wouldn’t necessarily take kindly to having their infractions pointed out to them. At least that hasn’t been my observation on land and I rather doubt it would be any different on a cruise. And even if they do put on a mask when you tell them to that doesn’t mean they’ll keep it on. I think that mixing vaccinated and unvaccinated is going to be asking for trouble. Look at the airlines and the problems they’ve had just trying to get people to wear a mask on a flight.

AHHH, but now I believe  Big Brother has entered the picture in the form of Medallion.  It knows where you are and I am certain it will contain the necessary covid information.  Hey, it lets bartenders know what drink you ordered last time so they can ask if you want it again.

The Medallion knows nothing about you. All it has is a reference number assigned to you and is read by nearby sensors which communicate with a ship's computer that has all the info about you.
