Don't they have to approve this benefit each year? I thought it's like in July for sailing until June the next year? Can anyone verify?

My opinion, it is very unlikely that this benefit of owning at least 100 shares of CCL will ever not be available.  Particularly in the near future since the dividend has been suspended.

It seems to be a routine approval. There is no reason not to approve as it is a marketing tool that basically costs them nothing.

Just curious if the OBC amounts are the same as with Carnival-

It is not Carnival Cruise Lines which provides this benefit.  It is Carnival Corporation.

Right we have received the shareholder OBC on Carnival, Princess, and Holland America.

Where/how do we request our OBC for HAL?  I have a fax # for Carnival, but am sure it is different for each brand.  These is a very nice benefit

It is different for each brand.  You can email HAL now.

New to the idea to purchase stock.  How far in advance do you need to purchase the stock before your cruise to get the $/s credit?

You need to give it enough time for your purchase to be processed, and for you to get some paperwork confirmation of that. Plus you need to allow time to send in the proof, make the request, and have it processed.
I don't know how much time either is taking these days, but I would want to give myself a good 2-3 weeks to make sure everything is completed properly. Longer would be better.

However, there is no minimum amount of time set in the rules.

Thank you for your prompt response.  Can you use the OBC offered for the stock with other discounts/promotions?  We have a 21 day cruise in November and a 45 day next October with Holland America.

Absolutely!  You can stack it up with all the others.  Note that it is non refundable and cannot be used in casino  Use it or lose it, but the onboard account does consume non refundable credits first.  If you have non refundable remaining it can be used to increase the tips.

I purchased in May/June in time for it to appear on my quarterly statement. I emailed it in to HAL in early July and they replied within a couple hours that the credit applied. Ok to redact just about everything and I only sent in the cover sheet and the page with CCL stock. I redacted all other stock plans/pricing/value, total portfolio value, account number, etc.

The request for Credit must be received no less than 3 weeks prior to sailing.

I have taken last minute cruises (within 10 days) and have been able to get it applied so I think a person could try.  I wouldn’t want to test this theory just for kicks though 😛.

.....when we emailed our request for the OBC a few weeks back, the confirmation came back in a few hours.

HAL has changed their "no emailing" policy or where you just lucky?

It can be used for standard promotions but read the shareholder info earlier in this thread if in doubt about discounts. For example, it can’t be used by those traveling on a tour conductor ticket or using a travel agency discount rate.
