First Capella departure is now scheduled for December 12, 2021 and first Castor scheduled for February 11, 2022.  No update on Polaris and Pollux - probably second half 2022.

Schedule first sailing from Bergen to Kirkenes

Havila Capella sailed from Bergen on the evening of the 12th December. Havila facebook page has a few photographs.

Is there anything here on CC about the actual Havila cruises?  I don't see anything under "crulse line names", but of course, they are so new.

Any comments at all here on CC from anyone on board?

(I don't use FacePlace.)

I'm really curious, as they get started.

Thanks.

No - and Havila has still only one ship in service.

While there have been many photos of Capella on her first voyage along the Norwegian coast, there has not yet been a full review of the ship.  Doubt that there have been a large number of ‘regular guests’ on the voyage.

I am also looking forward to a review of Havila Capella.

The passenger ship Havila Capella has been “detained” in Bergen due to the sanctions and its connections to Russian company GTLK - more in Norway Today and World Today News

This is a shame, just shows again how much and how widespread the damage the actions of a single individual can do when in a position of power.

We have a round trip northern lights trip booked on Havila Capella in mid February, so hopefully they can work out something with their non-Russian financing and get back in action.  We only have a comparatively small deposit down, so not too worried there, and if worse comes to worse, we can book with Hurtigruten.  But we've been excited about the new ships with Havila, so no plans to "jump ship" unless it gets late in the year with no resolution.  Minor problem compared to what some are suffering from the actions of this, well, .........fill in the blank.  Best of luck to Havila, we're rooting for you.

The problem should be solved long before February 2023

Havila Kystruten is working along all conceivable channels to find a short-term
solution to get Havila Capella back into operation as soon as possible. In the
company's assessment, a short-term solution requires the participation of the
Norwegian authorities in relation to sanctions against Russia.
The company hopes that a temporary solution exists, and that it can be active
until a permanent solution is possible. Havila Kystruten's goal is of course to
become the formal owner of Havila Capella. In parallel with a solution to get
Havila Capella up and running, work is underway to refinance the company's four
ships.”

Havila capella sailing again:

The headline in the link is a little misleading.  It is not yet certain that Capella can sail the next round trip starting from Bergen on 4 May.  There is still uncertainty regarding insurance of the ship. In addition, some suppliers have given notice of termination of agreements.

Capella cancels another sailing.

Unfortunately - still problems with insurance.
Castor is however ‘fit for sailing’ and has just started her first voyage from Bergen towards Kirkenes today.

The Castor is operating as normal.

Unlike Havila Capella, the shipping company has managed to keep Havila Castor free of funding from the sanctioned Russian leasing company GTLK.
Therefore, no problems in getting Havila Castor insured and she is sailing in accordance with her regular schedule.

Thanks for the updates. Looking forward to our February 2023 coastal round trip and was a little concerned, but it looks like their persistence is going to be productive.
