Heads Up.............if you have a B2B2B booked............

That's why you should buy travel insurance, shi$ happens. Adjust your schedule.

One shouldn't need an insurance policy to kick in based on a poor decision of the cruiseline not to allow you to cruise. The cruise isn't cancelled. It's happening. But it isn't happening for a select FEW people in the entire damn cruising world. This is just a flat out bad deal and another PR blunder of RCL.  If they so choose to change policy, then do it but not after passengers are already on board. Let them finish their cruises. Just bad bad bdad decisions one right after another.  Something tells me that RCL screwed up by allowing the bookings to be made to start with. Now they're in hot water w/ most likely the CDC.  And who pays the cost for this screw up, the paying passenger.

This is my favorite answer to what's going on here, but it still begs the question, "Have the other cruise lines allowed B3B's?"

Cruises are going to be "changing horses in the middle of the stream" for a while still. The current environment is very fluid and the cruise lines are going to be making changes. See requiring tests before boarding Adventure, or changing excursion rules last minute, requiring insurance for some passengers.

Honestly I'd probably say at least until Oct if not until the end of the year I would expect to go with the flow if you go on a cruise.

Considering they were already in the middle of cruising they should have made an exception. It’s not like they have a ton of passengers to keep up with.

Good Luck with that.

Thanks. Last 16 Months when Cruises were cheap scheduled B4B or longer every three months threw this Fall, after have bunch every 5 months. Think it's 22 Cruises Booked at moment always figured  Wouldnt/Couldn't do them all. Shoot all the FCC applied my B8B only cost me about $1500 extra out pocket. They try limit or Cancel this Fall's group then all the FCC will pay off my Mar-May2022 Cruises instead. I'm covered, got Cabins and prices I like for whenever we get back normal. Hardest part is keeping track Cruises, FCC and reissued FCC's. Between that and watching for my price Drops, another 3 this week, 4 last month, can't complain as some Cheapest Cruises Booked since right after 9/11

I'm sure @cruise wizard will be back soon with all the details, but if you want to see some good news right now, over on the Celebrity Edge roll call he has posted that they are now allowed to continue! Woohoo! So happy for them!

But will they charge you the same price you paid for the original flight 4-6 months ago or will they charge you the current "last minute" fare?

of course you have to pay the difference between what you paid and today's price.

@cruise wizard Sorry this happened to you. I hope you can get a real answer as to why they are making this call. They should not be changing horses in the middle of a stream.

Not to be snarky, but they changed the rules with the vaccine protocols.

I'm curious how you would even file this under travel insurance.  I mean, it's obviously trip interruption but your policy always has specific covered reasons that you can claim this.  I can't find a covered reason in my policy that would even cover something like this.

Current price - luckily many airlines recently had changeable fares so some may  be able to apply current  airfare paid. And travel insurance should kick in.

in August 2019, RCCL cancelled a cruise  once we were all on board ( Mechanical problems) and kicked us all off the ship.  Yup - they turned  around and returned to the pier immedialty, kept us in limbo a few hours and then at 8PM announced that the  cruise  was canceled and we all had to disembark, or disembark the next NIGHT.  (Couldn't  disembark during the day  because another ship was using the pier.)  WHAT A MNESS    We had to pay FULL current cost of a return flight the next day.  Those of us  who had non refundable air tickets couldn't even use the original cost of the ticket to help out.  Couldn't stay in Baltimore and wait for the original return flight  as RCCL only provided a hotel  room for one night.

RCCL  offered a small allowance for flight changes.  CRUISE INSURANCE paid all our non reimbursed expenses.

The details are much as they were............"Miami" made the decision for "X" to cancel B2B2B's - still no reason except "we were to follow the new procedure" - no B2B2B's and Future Cruises were not to book B2B2B's............then a new conference call to rescind that procedure. The other brands were not a part of the debacle. So yesterday and today B2B2B's are allowed.................tomorrow - who knows.

Unvaccinated passengers can only be onboard for only one cruise - B2B is not allowed.

We went to the consecutive cruisers meeting and we all had our antigen tests in the room next to the meeting spot............very quick. Tomorrow we all meet at 9:45PM to go through immigration showing passports & original vaccination cards - then proceed to a desk in the terminal to get our new sea pass cards - then boarding the ship. There is a different procedure for those going ashore or on Fort Lauderdale tours (Celebrity sponsored).

Excellent 🤩     I hope you have a wonderful week 3.

I was hoping they would have given you a voucher for one of the specialty restaurants or something nice like that since they stressed you out for a day or so.

I am also glad it worked out for you and hopefully the other parties involved.

One has to wonder what has happened to the bookings that involved flights - presumably people have spent the last couple of days trying to make rearrangements?

Fortunately with our cruises so far we have had little trauma that we couldn’t just roll with. Unfortunately a couple of incidents we did have to deal with both happened on different 5- day cruises.  I know how much wasted time and energy was spent at customer service trying to get a solution, repeating the same information in triplicate because there was no chain of command, or communication between departments.

I feel for your mental anguish and wasted time, - particularly those that had families involved.

It is hard to believe but there aren't any bingo announcements blaring a couple of times a day............I haven't seen anything posted in the daily Celebrity Today paper (but I haven't been looking for specifically for BINGO).

BTW - we did win a ships replica at the consecutive cruisers meeting this AM!!!!!!!!!!!! So, maybe a trip to the casino would be appropriate!!!

We were on that Grandeur non-cruise and we stayed on until the second night.  Fortunately we live a 90-minute drive away.
