Setting sail soon...help me w/ surprise for DH

Okay, back in the dead of winter, we booked this cruise, and now that it's upon us, I have a bit of a surprise for DH.

About a month ago, I upgraded our accomodations from inside gty. to a balcony gty. Now, I'd like to find a clever way to spring the surprise on my husband.

Any ideas? I know my CC buddies won't let me down!

The best surprise would be letting him think you are still in an inside cabin and have him find the cabin after you get on the ship. You can always order a Bon Voyage banner.

If you want to do it before you go, Pick up a card and get a picture of a balcony cabin and tape it inside. Write him a note telling him how you want to share a beautiful sunrise/sunset with him, enjoy drinking coffee in the morning with fresh air, etc.

I would let him think it's an inside still and let him locate the cabin whe you board. When he opens the dor and thinks that something is wrong leap in the air and yell SURPRISE then give him a big hug and kiss (this is to help with the confusion factor).

Wow! We must be on the same wave length. My DH has been busting his tail end at work for the past 6 months, and he also thinks we have an inside gty. He will be so surprised when he opens the door to the room and it is a balcony room. Although, I am wondering if maybe when we embark he will be glancing through documents and see this? Maybe we can brainstorm....

icon_cool.gif I agree...let him locate the cabin. When he sees the upgrade, just ask him "Am I THE most wonderful dw or what?" Then, order coffee or breakfast via room service for the next morning and enjoy easing into your day. AAhhh!

AND ralmyers - why don't YOU hold on to all the docs? As long as you stay together until you reach your room, all should go smoothly.

Good luck!

madeline rose-- sounds good, although the DH can be a little nosey at times icon_wink.gif

I will try my darndest. I already had problems with the TA emailing my room upgrade confirm and final payment receipt directly to him. Luckily, (I hope) he seemed to just see that he subject line read "final payment confirmation", and forward it onto me. He did not mention it if he did actually see it. I think he would have said, hey did you see that our room said balcony and not inside? I hope... Or else he is being a really good sport and trying to act surprised about it all :-)

One way or the other room service on the balcony will be awesome!

I've been pretty good so far, about not letting this cat out of the bag. DH really has no idea, and I haven't let on in the least. Our TA has called me when she knows that DH is at work (I work 2nd shift, so I'm always home in the AM).

As for documents..when we picked up our docs, we were still a gty. inside cabin, and it wasn't until after that I upgraded, so we'll be issued new docs at embarkation. I'm sure at that point he might figure it out. Especially if the crew member says something about us being upgraded to a balcony. Oh well...
