Green4me Posted May 19, 2022 #51 Share Posted May 19, 2022 The octopus looks delicious 🙂 we get it grilled often. Years ago, like 30 I was on a three week trip for business in Japan, out of the tourist areas. We hit the Sake and beers with a customer one night and the fried grasshoppers came out in a big bowl, actually they were tasty. Love escargot, take or leave the frog legs. Love to have choices

Rare BlerkOne Posted May 19, 2022 #53 Share Posted May 19, 2022 The escargot is pretty good, not at all slimy. Sadly they don't serve in the proper dish these days, but I imagine those were harder to clean and not useful for too many dishes.
Rare BlerkOne Posted May 19, 2022 #54 Share Posted May 19, 2022 The alligator beignets had no discernible alligator and were a wannabe hushpuppy. Nothing bad about them if you need to kill some time.
firstcruise92 Posted May 19, 2022 #55 Share Posted May 19, 2022 I enjoyed the alligator beignets on my last 2 cruises.

mz-s Posted May 20, 2022 #58 Share Posted May 20, 2022 If there is any alligator in the beignets you'd never know it. They're just relatively spicy hushpuppies.

I remember those special dishes, with a garlic butter filled cavity for each snail. Those were the days.
