Planning first RCCL cruise for family

Recommended Posts

OK, first to answer your questions. I would select a cruise that went to Key West and Coco Cay. 2 inside adjourning cabins if cost is an issue if not 2 bdrm suite or 2 adjourning balcony cabins.

Now, You're trying to accomplish a lot in 7 days.  I understand you're trying to get it all in while you're in FL.  However, if I was you I would decide if you want a Disney World vacation or a cruise vacation. Think Quality of vacation over quantity - trying to jam everything you can in a week of vacation.

Also take into account your travel days and times to all these different places you want to visit. Orlando to FLL is 3 hours and FLL to Key West is 3 hours.

I would select one of the following:

1. 7 days at Disney/Universal, rent a car, rent a condo and visit Key West and Everglades National Park and/or any other must see's.

2. 7 day cruise on an Oasis class ship that visits Coco Cay.

It sounds like you really want to explore FL and going to Coco Cay is an after thought.  So I would rent a condo and make it your home base in the Orlando area. We're Dis'ers and Cruisers so we get trying to do both in 7 days but that's a lot. And it sounds like it's your first time to Disney so that's a whole different animal and then you add in a summer crowd. Yep, I would definitely concentrate on a WDW/Universal vacation. Disney is NOT your typical amusement park. It's an experience. You really need the 7 days to enjoy the 4 parks and 2 water parks plus Disney Springs and a day or two at Universal.
