Crystal Blocks now discontinued

Recommended Posts

We were so excited to finally be earning blocks. We're supposed to get our second one on the Adventure next month - our first cruise since the lockdown. It's a special ship for us for other reasons (we turned Diamond and Diamond Plus on it) so having a block would be a great memento. Same for the other 3 we would have gotten over the next year and a half. All would have been on ships that were meaningful to us in one way or another.  I know not everyone cares, but we do. I'm a total sentimental sally ☺️ I agree w/ the suggestion to offer them only to those that want them and included that idea in my email to Mr. Bayley.

We would have gotten another next cruise.  Boo.  I have them on my sofa table among the pics of my kids and grands.  More cost cutting.

I think it would have been better to give a notice or letter and you could go get it from the LA if you wanted them.  ( I really doubt most are left behind….)

All the suggestions about just going to the LA onboard to ask for one are a bit of a moot point since it says RCI isn't going to be "ordering" them any longer once what they have are gone.

I am, as always, a bit of a contrarian.  I never earned or spent a single ship shape dollar.  Although, I did all of the activities that would have earned them.  I can’t say for sure that I never ate one of the pillow chocolates, but I do know what I did with 99% of them the exact same thing I did with the crystal blocks.  I wrapped them up and brought them home at the end of the cruise.  The chocolates, I gave to my secretary at work when I used to have a secretary.  The blocks ended up in a drawer somewhere in a spare bedroom.  I think I have come upon them occassionally looking for something else, and opened up the box with the wonder of what is in this box.  I think it might be cool if I had a hundred of them and could build a glass block igloo.  Otherwise, I miss the chocolates because they were a treat for my secretary.

I do hate to see things go away, like the midnight buffet, but looking back after the second or third one, I quit attending.  So, I am sorry some of you are losing something you liked, but I am pretty comfortable knowing that I am not going to really miss this loss.

O, I do miss those little loving cups that they used to sell in the MDR, I used to have quite the collection.  They were treated exactly like the chocolates and glass blocks, but I put those in the kitchen cabinets and the bar cabinets.  Then in 2014 we remodeled our kitchen, and those are now either in a box buried in the garage or in the trash.

Now you have made me sad, thinking about this loss.  I can never replace the collection now.

Throw in a visit to the Orchid showcase and I'll take you up on that offer.

If I do that you know we will have to have a rum tasting here. Plenty to choose from. 🍹

Anyone that doesn’t want theirs I’ll gladly trade a ride from PE to FLL in exchange for one. Yes I know I can buy them cheap from ebay, but I would also get to meet some people. I have a Denali so luggage shouldn’t be a problem. 😁

Be careful picking up hitchhikers.  My mother warned me about that a long time ago.

Formal night on a cruise is one of the few times we get to, “Put on the Ritz” anymore.

We look forward to it and will continue to dress in our finest.

We also look forward to it.

I'm still shopping for mine! I meant to buy one last month but have just been too busy.

Long live the formal night!

Have you found a bow tie and cummerbund yet? Don’t forget to check out Nicole Miller on eBay for some cool ones. Also if you intentionally misspell cummerbund you will get some different listings. Not everyone spells it correctly.

Too bad. We enjoy them. Hope they don’t run out on Allure on their first cruise back, I am due one on our 8/15 sailing.

With the double points they will go quickly.

I have mine stack up in a pyramid. When the setting sun shines on them, they throw a prism out. I also have 2 blocks that I got the HD and Captain to autograph

Mario built an igloo with his blocks.

I still have about $50 bucks left.  At least I think they are still in the drawer.

Same here, although I have a few hats and tees.

Maybe the S.S. $ can be used for drinks.🤪

I was supposed to get my 4th block on Adventure in June but they didn’t give it to me.  I called C&A when I returned and they mailed it to me.  Glad I didn’t wait.

We also were stockpiling the coins you’d be given to use in a special slot machine in the casino.  Since they’ve now taken all the machines out, they’re useless.  I now have 30+ coin souvenir.

Oh no! I will miss them. Did Odyssey get any blocks? I thought I would get one next month on Odyssey and another one in Feb. on Brilliance.

I asked the Loyalty Ambassador on the Freedom today about the Odyssey, and she advised that the Odyssey does not have any blocks.  If that is true, then Royal knew months ago that they were going to eliminate the blocks.

I asked at the loyalty desk on Adventure (sept 2019) about getting my block.  They said they would mail it.  🙂

Yeah we asked onboard Adventure February 2020 and they said they'd mail it.  Covid hit a couple weeks later and we gave up hope it would ever arrive.
