What do you think of the new 2021 menus?

Yep, the Vlogs have mentioned long wait times, the reduction in menu choices, limits on quantity of items you can order. I am not a foodie as far as I really can’t eat much but taking away sides and the port of call selections is not ideal for me and I can’t eat bread. So I already booked a special dining for one evening of my 7 day and I’m going to book a second special dining for another evening as well.

I think we will do the two formals nights in the dinning room and spend the rest of time in the specialty restaurants.

I  found many things I want to try.  The only thing I did not see that I would like is the option of a baked potato.  I do not eat much in the way of potatoes so  a baked one on a cruise is a treat for me

Thank you for posting the menus!  I am looking forward to my cruise in September.  At this point, I would be happy with sandwiches, just to be back on the ship!

There might be this option always available.  I know that you can alwayscrquest steamed vegetables and they're never listed on the menu.

I heard that you can still get baked potatoes and mashed upon request even though they are not listed on the menu. I wouldn’t doubt that to be the case with various veggies such as broccoli as well.

I looked through the menus, and while they are much, much shorter than before, I didn't see anything missing that would damage my cruise experience.

I'm assuming once they have the full fleet going again and supply chains are up to full speed it will expand again. Right now with just a few ships, I'd imagine it's hard to keep selections the same.

Menu looks FANTASTIC to me…..I don’t have to shop, prep or cook for 7 days!!
That’s what is important to me.  There is something for everyone, no one will go hungry.  Sometimes I’m good with just a sammie and 🍺.  Blessed to finally be cruising🙏🏻👍🏻❤️!!

I absolutely also have to order Room Service.  It’s a tribute to my BFF and cruising buddy that sadly passed away in 2018, I haven’t cruised since then, Mardi Gras/ Aug 7th  will be my first time without her.  We would just chill in the room, order a bunch of Room Service, chill out and head to casino about 2am….

It looks like they have removed the side options and the port selections.  And it seems like there are fewer desert options.  Still lobster on second formal night.  And I guess you won't receive bread unless you order it from the menu.  What do you think of these new menus?  I wonder if they scaled down due to covid?  All of the new dinner menus can be found here if you haven't seen them yet.

It doesn't seem that much different to me- yes the port options are missing (maybe temporarily- I hope, those were a favorite with me) but the dessert seems the same- maybe one less item? Maybe? Ordering bread is fine with me as well, it's all the same in the end- telling a guy with a basket or telling a guy with a pad, I'm still going to get bread. I did see something I wanted to eat, several somethings, on every night though so there is that. 🙂

Good with me.  I think most normal people knew there would be growing pains when things started up again.  To produce thousands of meals a day is an art that requires impeccable team with skills developed from repetition.  You don't just throw a bunch of crew together in a new environment and expect them to run at peak efficiency from day one, that is impossible.  It will take a while to get the process fine tuned again.

Ok dumb question....I'm on a 14 day cruise in November/December out of New Orleans. Will we get a 7 day menu from the OP link and it will be doubled for the back half or ???

I can't wait to be back to cruising. I can always find something to eat on the cruise as I generally gain 5 pounds on average for a 7 day cruise.

Yes it’ll take some time to get everything flowing correctly. Yes there’s something nearly every night that we like and won’t starve.  Great to order bread so there’s much less waste.  However, it is disappointing to see dessert choice of only 1 each night plus the old standbys. To me it signals another step of elimination of cruise “benefits”.

On the last 2 cruises we took with Carnival the buffet has been so whittled down it’s ridiculous. 2-3 entree choices every night with rice & baked potatoes. Maybe another side and some vegetables. The choices were often full of peppers, onions, zucchini, all cheap filler food stuffs.
Every thing considered..not sure Carnival fits our needs anymore.  Sad 😞  On the plus side,, there’s always the delicious deli, blue iguana, sea day brunch & guys burgers 😁

Ah, I just realized they have it as Filet Mignon on the first elegant night (assumed Day 2), and Lobster Tail on the second elegant night (assumed Day 6).  I was looking for "both" on the same night: for some reason I thought I remembered that you could have either (or both) on at least the first elegant night.

This is fine by me.  As others have noted, I won't starve!

It looks like they started with day 7 on the link,

then went backwards to day 1.

lobster is on the first elegant night.

The menus have not changed much.  While port selections are missing, there are usually additions to the menu.  We had barramundi the other evening and hubby loved it.

The waiter brings around a bread basket and asks what you would like.

They still have Bitter and Blanc, so I am happy!

I have not been on a Carnival cruise since 2014. Has the Bitter and Blanc changed since then? I do not remember the "cinnamon dulce sauce," but rather a vanilla sauce that the waiter would pour in the ramekin. My family has been dreaming of the bread pudding since I booked our cruise on the Mardi Gras in Sept. Hoping it will be just like we remember...

There's bread, it's now listed as the first course on the menu. It's been upgraded, too, to offer you a choice of sides for your bread. A nice upgrade.

I've also seen a couple of youtubers talking about it actually being hot.  I'm good with the new bread arrangement.

I remember thinking this when they rolled out the "American Table" menus.  There is one dish on there, can't think of what it's called, that is basically hamburger helper.  I think they really do go as cheaply as possible with the dining room options, and it's a push to frequent the specialty restaurants.  I'm actually good with those, because I'll pay to have good food.  Kinda sad though.  Our last cruise prior to covid was a 14 day B2B and we ended up in the dining room a total of 3 times I think.  It just wasn't worth the time investment and I had no problem shelling out for JiJis, which is fantastic, or some of the other options.  Otherwise, you could skip the 2 hours and eat the same thing on the buffet.  I hate to sound like such a complainer, because we still love cruising Carnival, but it's the facts.  Can't really fault them..it makes sense to their bottom line.  When you factor it all in, cruising is still an incredible value for vacationing.

I won't eat beef on the ship at all other than the steakhouse.  Granted, being from WY I'm definitely spoiled, but the quality of it on the ship is just so bad.  That's almost everywhere I travel though.  I can get a good steak at home.  I look to see what is fresh for the area I'm in.

Are the fancy coffees included in the Cheers package, or do we still have to buy those a la carte?

Included. Only count towards the 15 drink limit if they contain alcohol.

Nothing like sitting around on the back patio / front porch / cruise stateroom with your best bud, drinking wine, talking smack and tossing back munchies.  Sorry for your loss and as always these things put all of our indignant complaints into a humbling perspective.  Cruises are a privilege to enjoy during our short windows of opportunity and generally an excellent value, even if every detail is not your personal idea of 100% perfection.  If it's not for you, no harm, no foul, but here in Kmom land, no complaints.

I too think the menus look perfectly fine, we are planning to do some specialities this next round anyway, and if all else fails we have never had a meal we didn't like up in the Lido Marketplace.

Heh, you are correct.

I just saved all the images and looked at them offline, and assumed (bad idea, evidently) that the files ending in "1" were day one, files ending in "3" were day three etc.  But it is all reversed.  Bad files names, bad!

Sounds like most, not all of it comes from what will be on the buffet.

Dang it, Lobster night on Day 2 now?! We booked the steakhouse that night. Wonder if it's worth rescheduling to another night?

There is no guarantee which night it will be .  "Usually day 2" is a good rule, but if you have a port on day 2 and day 3 is a sea day, it may move to day 3.
