Bait and switch

Curious to see if this has happened to anyone else.  We booked a 29 day Mediterranean trans-Atlantic on the Zuiderdam months ago.  We stuck with the cruise through 2 ship changes and itinerary modifications.  Earlier this month we got official notification from HAL (as they were combining 3 ship sailings into1) that we had 3 options.  We chose the option to do the same cruise next year on the Westerdam, retaining all of our perks.  When we got our new booking I noticed it was NOT the same cruise (entirely different Mediterranean itinerary) nor the same ship we were told we would be transferred to.  Our TA called HAL and was told that cruise was our only option to retain our perks.

Which itinerary (before or after changes) are you trying to do?  

 

Is there a similar cruise next year?  If so, I would ask your TA to try to get you on that one with the same perks.  However, due to all the changes, HAL might not be very flexible with your request.

Our letter from HAL said we could be transferred to the same cruise next year and that was what we were told we'd be switched to as per HAL.   Yesterday we were told there is no similar cruise next year, but I corresponded with someone who said she is definitely on that cruise next year although it is currently listed as inactive.  We figured that was so everyone who was transferring to next year  could get cabin assignments. Ironically, after they said that cruise they offered us is not available we could no longer stay on the cruise we were leaving.
