Second room offer better than the first.

I need 7 more days so I can sail the 49-day Hawaii tripo as a 5* mariner. Several weeks ago I booked a full fare 7-day cruise to So. Caribbean on Nieuw Statendam, with no special offer.  The cabins offered were not great, so I chose the best of the worst,  a balcony on the 8th deck, very forward, and  right under the Spa. I decided yesterday that I would pay more for a better cabin. (LIfe is short.) The HAL agent offered me a balcony, smack-dab mid-ship, on the 5th deck, with only cabins above and below, at NO EXTRA CHARGE. It's a really big upgrade. I have no idea why that happened, but I'm just so excited about it, I needed to share here on CC.

Congrats and enjoy the NS as well as the awesome Hawaii trip as a 5*....

Funny though is that we prefer deck 8 way forward (the 800x cabins) because it's under the spa (quiet corner) and near the spa/gym and lido/pool deck!

Smooth sailing......

We did the exact same approach with our Dec 2019 Caribbean trip - did it just to make 5 Star before our 2020 cruises.  Turned out that while we made 5 Star, Covid prevented us from traveling as one so far!

We are currently 3-Star and have a number of cruises planned (Like everybody else) - Our last one booked is like 45 days - TransPacific - and we turn 4-Star on that one (and get the coveted - Free Laundry). I have been lobbying to get a couple more cruises on the schedule to reach 4-star BEFORE that long cruise. Alas - so far -even the lure of Free Laundry for that long cruise has not been enough to sway the finance (purse holder) committee as the the need. Still working on that.
