Suite/Platinum/Diamond cabin ready at boarding?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.  Any Suite/Platinum/Diamond status folks that have already sailed?  I know that Suite/Platinum/Diamond are not getting priority boarding at this time, but does anyone know if the cabins are still ready when you board? We are Platinum and usually go to room soon as we board and drop off our carry-ons. If this is not an option right now, I will need to rethink my carry-on packing. 🙂  Thanks in advance!

There was a post earlier today, that quoted JH cautioning guests from expecting they can drop off luggage as soon as they board, as per Carnival cleaning protocols, they are taking more time to more thoroughly clean each cabin. So you may want to rethink your carry-on packing. I'm sure others will chime in as the day goes on.

Actually, even priority boarding it is not guaranteed the rooms will be ready until the announcement is made for all. I read the new policies they posted on line about this, and was asking JH about this in the past week, and he stated that they would likely not because of all the extra cleaning they have to do.  I am Diamond, and wanted to know if I could go and drop my suite cases off like I normally do right when we board (we usually always carry our own luggage on).  He said no because they have so much cleaning the rooms would not be ready and also he discouraged carrying our own luggage on. Originally the info Carnival was putting out stated that priority guests could still go drop their suitcases in their room, and allow the stewards to finish their work as needed, but then this came out:

MBARKATION/BOARDING

Do Platinum and Diamond guests still have priority boarding and early access to their staterooms?

Given our focus on the implementation of new health and safety protocols, we have adjusted how we deliver priority check-in. All guests will need to complete Online Check-In, which will open 14 days prior to sailing. Platinum and Diamond guests will be given two days advance access to select their preferred Arrival Appointment. It is important that guests arrive on a timely basis as early arrivals cannot be accommodated and will be asked to return at their assigned time. Due to enhanced cleaning and sanitation, staterooms may not be ready at the time of boarding for the early Arrival Appointments. We appreciate our guests’ understanding as we manage through many changes with an eye on your health and safety.

I just checked my November cruise, and suites are also receiving 2 days in advance to choose a time.  Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen this.

I think they just changed all the cruises. The same rules apply to my Sept 2023 cruise, online check-in is 16 days before, with the health Assessment 3 days before.

We were on the Breeze last week and they were doing priority boarding (like before).  They called for passengers in suites to board first, then they started calling the A1, A2, etc. groups.  We are platinum and were in group A2, and boarded within minutes of the passengers in suites.

In regards to the rooms being ready, I can't answer that because we were on the first sailing, so all rooms were ready when we boarded.

I received an email yesterday from Christine Duffy- it was addressed to Platinum and Diamonds guests. I am sailing on the Mardi Gras 8/7, I cut and pasted 1 portion for you. Hope that helps.

  • STATEROOM ACCESS – Due to enhanced cleaning and sanitation, staterooms may not be ready at the time of boarding for the early Arrival Appointments.   If you have not checked your bags, feel free to quickly drop off your luggage while our crew puts the finishing touches on your stateroom.  This will allow you to complete your e-mustering process and start your vacation promptly.

So Carnival is being soooo confusing on this!  I got this the email you have quoted above a week or so ago and was like woopie!  I can still get on go to my room and drop my stuff!

Then I got the below email just a couple days ago AFTER the one you mentioned.  I was so confused so I went direct to JH and asked and confirmed the below situation (that we have to wait until they are done and can't go until they are), and he said yes, we have to wait!  But if they are still sending out your referenced email (the same one I got a week ago, but you say you got in the last day or so)... who the @#$*! knows lol!:  Seems they are sending out emails that are saying 2 different things!

I agree it is confusing but I  think the room will not be ready but you can drop off your carry on. That's how I am reading it.

If they do not have the rooms ready, and you drop off your stuff, are you able to get your keys?( Cards... whatever)

In the past? yes.

Does anyone know what times (approximately) the rooms will likely be ready if you aren't diamond, platinum, or a suite guest?

Probably a little later than they were ready pre-covid, as the crew has to do some sort of "enhanced" cleaning. I'm just guessing about 1:30 or so. And that may be wayyyy to conservative. Short answer: no one knows.
