non US what if we can get into the country?!

Recommended Posts

Hi all

we have Mardi Gras booked for january but we are UK residents. We are both vaccinated but currently we understand that the USA is not allowing non US passport holders into the country due to covid. Our balance is due in October. What are the chances of getting carnival to either delay balance payment or, if we pay the balance and can't enter the country carnival would transfer the amount paid to our other cruise we have on freedom in october 2022? I've tried to call but hanging on too long, costing a fortune!

thanks!

They are good about moving the charge to another further out date. Idk about adding the deposit amount to a already booked date.

Sorry you are waiting on hold. They just did some cancellations last week and the wait is hours right now. I'd wait a week or two to call. We cant give you our pvp numbers of course, they are booking agents. .. but carnival will work with you. Maybe wait until closer to oct. When your payment is due.

Worse comes to worse when they announced protocols for January and allow refunds. That's what some on my roll calls have done.

You need to keep checking official websites for US entry updates.

Not correct that all non US passport holders cannot enter the US. I don't have a US passport and my country is allowed entrance.

Unfortunately the presidential proclamation still stands.... no entry from the UK unless you're a US resident or passport holder, I honestly thought this would of lifted by now!

Thanks for the advice everyone, we will hold on until just before balance is due and hope things have improved by then, only got 10 weeks until balance is due, keeping our fingers crossed!

On the news here in UK people are being refused boarding flights by US immigration at the London Heathrow when they arrive to check in - if you're not US passport holder or have some sort of exemption to travel from the UK - US you're not even getting on the plane!

I would say you can request they extend the final payment when you get close to it, I have seen a lot of people reporting Carnal will do this.  It will allow you maybe a little extra time.

I personally would not risk it past final payment, that is a big chance to take.

Just an FYI, kind of does.  Not supposed to give our names and phone numbers like that 😉

It's not me.  It really is a guy at Carnival, I think he mainly handles casino people, but he said he could help anyone.  But if it is against the rules I won't give it out.  But considering you can leave him a message and he will call you back instead of sitting on hold for 2 hours, I really am just trying to be helpful.  I have nothing personal to gain.

NO, I totally understand.  He is probably a PVP.  A lot of people ask about other people's PVP and we would all love to help!  I have a great one and would recommend him to everyone.  I often will to people in person on the ship if it comes up in a conversation how we book.

It is against cruise critics rules though.

I am guessing likely because it would be easy for it to turn into them trying to post their name and number everywhere they could because they do make $$ on the bookings they help with.

Ok, I won't do it again, but maybe they should have a place to put their names to save people from the endless hold.

There are places, just not on Cruise Critic. 🙂

Also, at the top of Carnival's Home page there is a place to request one.

A LOT of us recommend people get a PVP just for situations like this.  They are great at helping when you really need it.  I used to book all my stuff myself and then few years ago I got a great PVP and haven't looked back.  He has helped us with soooo many things.  They are there when you need them most if you have a good one.

Yep,  same thing happening at the Munich airport. And, if you do have some kind of exemption you darn sure better have the paperwork to prove it.

@Cbols30, we had Mardi Gras booked for Aug21, but had to  cancel due to same reason being in UK,  I needed to contact them to get the dates moved, I managed to find out if you download skype on your mobile you can make the +1800 call  to the customer service team for free, on skype there may be a long wait.....think I was on hold for 20+ min

Actually, 20+ minutes is a lot shorter than some of the posters in here have been reporting. There was one thread titled waiting on hold for 1 hour 59 minutes.

We had a similar situation. We figured out that there was no way we could do our B2B Australia.
Cruises because we can’t get a visa fast enough and the borders are closed for a long stretch they say.
It was for March 2022. Carnival moved all our monies and obc’s to a Nov 2022 out of Galveston.
Very helpful and understanding about it. YMMV of course.
