Carnival Breeze July 24 - July 29

I have receive a lot of great info from this forum. So I wanted to share a little as well. I dont write as well as most of you, but I did want to share some info about the cruise my wife and I just enjoyed on th Carnival Breeze. Im going to put the comments in 'bullet' form to make things go faster.

 

Our ride with Carnival was pretty bad. The ride from Houston Hobby to the ship took 45 minutes. From Harborside Dr. to the ship took 45 minutes.

  Later talking to Texas residence onboard, they said checking in early is bad, but late check in (12:30 to 1:30) is great.

Guys Bergers seemed bigger, and still great

You can begin the muster drill with your boarding pass

Steakhouse was ok. Not as nice as I remember but still good.

The Steakhouse would not let us take the cheesecake (desert) to our room as takeout. So that was a bummer. By the way, dinner took around 1.5 hrs.

In room ice is by request only

If you are VIP Red or above, the 1.5 liter of water is no longer delivered to your room, you have to go to the bar to get it. but they wont tell you. LOL.

Lemonade was GREATLY improved

FunTimes is on the HUB, but a generic one is available at the coffee shop.

The music channell on TV played some rated R music (midle finger , f word, ect at 8 am. No problem for me, just mentioning it

Drinks on Us was FAST and the drinks were STRONG

Movie selection was not very good, but not really Carnivals fault

Progresso is officially my least favorite port now. Automatic weapons armed ,military walking around, and not as accomodating as other ports

Our Salsa, Guacamole , Margarita excursion started 1.5 hr late. They had big problems, but we still had a decent time.

Didnt find the smoke free casino annex (on 4th deck) until Monday

Young kids wearing masks was not enforced. The Cruise Director brought unmasked little ones on stage with him, so maybe its not very much enforced. We are vaccinated so I didnt really care 

Cozumel was great again. Just stayed at port and eat ate Pablos Backyard. Food was great drinks ok. A little pricey, but good.

The play Flick was pretty good.

I was on the same sailing as you. I pretty much agree with everything you said.  The ship looks pretty rough... rust everywhere, peeling paint, loose tiles, etc.

Buffet:  the food was not as good as usual, very little variety..  cold.  The buffet floor is extremely slippery at all times.  
pretty much everything else the same as usual.  
I will never go out of Galveston again.  A very hard and expensive port to get to.  Yes we did sit on Carnival shuttle for an extra hour just in front of the ships (Vista was boarding as well), not Carnivals fault but very poor traffic planning.  
The best thing .. the crew.  Outstanding, bent over backwards in every way.  Really trying hard.  Love Carnival, will be back in a few months... but not Galveston.

And yes masks were not enforced in ANY way...  they will be sorry when those kids start spreading Covid around and the media gets ahold of this..  this could be their demise if they Don’t stop this.

Just off this cruise from covid quarantine, masks for kids highly recommended not required.  My kids wear masks 100 percent inside, no exceptions.  Both me (fully vaxxed) and son 10 years not vaxxed tested positive on last sea day.  I know there was at least one more case on board as well.

Unfortunately with the delta variant it is not just kids spreading anymore.

How did you find out. Was it your kids debarkation test? And that translated into your cabin being tested?

Would you please elaborate on your experience?  It looks like this cruise just disembarked today so you tested positive just a day or two ago? Why were you tested and what did they do once you were positive?  I have been very curious what happens when someone gets COVID on a ship but have not officially heard the protocols. I would be very interested in this, as it is a big factor in whether we actually sail on our August. cruise. Thanks in advance.

It was a terrible stressful situation and Carnival protocols were almost non existent.  We tested positive on the before disembarkion 7/28.  They gave us a list us 8 quarantine hotels, waived the phone call fees and left everything on our sholders.  Do not expect flights home etc. from Carnival.  It is all on your dime as well.  We have travel ins so hoping for some type of reimbursement for our covid quarantine rooms required from 7-10 days.  We are from CT, so we are stuck in Houston.  You never think it will happen to you until it does!

If I understand correctly you have to hotel quarantine if you were flying, but if you drive, you're allowed to drive home. I wonder if you could just one-way rent a car home.

In another thread she said it's too far to drive and they dont want to mix with her non positive husband and other child. She is in a designated covid quarantine hotel as she said above that carnival had a list of where she was allowed to quarantine. 

 

I dont think you would want her driving a couple of days to CT and stopping at gas stations and a non designated hotel if she tested positive for covid. Idk

 

If it was me I know I'd still be upset in her shoes. Cant be a good time.
