New Restrictions for American Cruise lines Only 5 days before embarkation August 2, 2021

Recommended Posts

Dear Guest,

Health and safety aboard the ship is a shared responsibility and we need your kind assistance for the benefit of our guests, crew, and those ashore.

The Washington Governors office has issued guidelines for cruise guests visiting Washington, regardless of vaccination status.  Accordingly, all guests are required to take a molecular COVID-19 test (such as a NAAT or PCR test) three days prior to traveling and email your test results to us at HealthSafety@AmericanCruiseLines.com before you travel.

Additionally, all guests will be administered an antigen test upon arrival to the ship or at the pre-cruise hotel.  While mask mandates are being relaxed around the country, we remain bound by the Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel and the U.S. Coast Guards Bulletin on COVID-19 Safety Requirements in the Maritime Transportation System requiring that face masks be worn aboard U.S. public maritime vessels throughout the cruise when indoors and aboard motor coaches, along with other procedures to mitigate the risks of COVID-19.

When you arrive to your ship, you will be asked to certify:
  • Your vaccination status, and present proof of vaccination (i.e. your vaccination card)
  • Your contact with individuals known or suspected to have had COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • Any symptoms you may have relating to COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • That you understand the risks of COVID-19 and are willing to comply with American Cruise Lines operating protocols, including the mask mandate
A certified Medical Officer will perform a brief health screening and possible additional COVID-19 testing throughout the duration of your cruise.

Thank you.  We look forward to welcoming you aboard.

Sincerely,

That’s odd. Here are the requirements from Royal Caribbean for cruises from Seattle in August. No testing for vaccinated people.

For Cruises Departing from Seattle, Washington on or after August 1, 2021

Guest testing requirements for cruises departing Seattle, Washington on Serenade of the Seas® and Ovation of the Seas® vary depending on your age and vaccine status.

FOR VACCINATED GUESTS

  • Vaccinated guests do not have any testing requirements.

GUESTS UNDER THE AGE OF 2

  • Guests under the age of 2 have no testing requirements.

FOR UNVACCINATED GUESTS 2-11 YEARS OLD

Unvaccinated guests in this age group will need to take 2 tests.

  • On boarding day, guests will take a rapid PCR test during check-in at the terminal. We’ll send registration details via email before departure.
  • A final COVID-19 test will take place onboard before the end of the cruise. We’ll provide additional details onboard. Vaccinated guests who require a COVID-19 test for re-entry into their destination country may receive one onboard as well.

Apparently this has been the case for some time.  nybumpkin posted this Washington State notice on tipsygirl's "Testing on Cruises" thread June 17th.  ACL should have given more advance notice. Agree it is odd that Royal Caribbean gets a pass...could this possibly be because after they embark they are immediately leaving Washington State, whereas ACL will be staying in the state?

I believe that policy just changed.
