Rare JimInBuffalo Posted August 17, 2021 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2021 Found these pictures from “The Victoria” on a cruise February 12, 1982 to Caracas, Venezuela. From what I can find, the ship was build in 1936 and had quite a history before coming to the Chandris Line. I would appreciate any comments regarding the ship and/or lines associated with it. The picture with the food is noted on the back of the picture as: “SPECIAL BUFFET NITE”

shipgeeks Posted August 22, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2021 According to the book "Crossing and Cruising", 1992, she was built as the Dunnotar Castle, for Union Castle Lines, for service between the UK and South Africa. We sailed on a couple of the former Union Castle Line ships in the 1990's, when Premier Lines had them. Nice ships. Our first Chandris cruise was to have been on Britanis, but when she was taken out of public service we eventually got a cruise on Meridian, one of our favorite ships, and the start of our interest in what became Celebrity Cruises. Thank you for the pictures!
shipgeeks Posted August 22, 2021 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2021 Passenger capacity: 500! It looks like close to 100 of them are in each of the pool pictures.
