Use of On Board Credit

Recommended Posts

Hi!

We are about to go on our first cruise since 2019.  We had to re/schedule the same basic cruise 3 times, and we leave in 8 days!  I'm to the point that I don't remember how much OBC we have. I also don't know what we can spend it on. Can it be used on shore excursions if we wait until we are onboard to book them?  I can't find information on this anywhere.  Thanks!

Yes. Should be able to use for auto gratuities, upcharge dining, gift shop. S&S charges should reduce your OBC down to zero before charges apply to your CC. You can check your folio on your cabin TV

We are leaving in 8 days as well, we are on the Magic. You can use your OBC on almost anything. Ours normally gets spent on drinks 🙂  I don't think they want you to use it in the casino but there are ways around that. Like im pretty sure you can use it on machines so you could use it on a slot game, cash out and go play tables if you wanted. We have a ton of OBC as well but its going to be applied to our next cruise.

How do you get it applied to next cruise?

The sailing we are on in 8 days is a new booking. Our OBC is applied to our sailing that was cancelled 3 times, we are taking that one in March.

Simply think of it as your S&S card starting with a negative balance.  Will be totally transparent.  The ONLY trick is not to think you can use it to PRE-purchase.  Onboard means onboard.

I just got off yesterday. There is a option on the machines, charge it to my cabin. Goes against obc. I didnt feel like they didnt want you to use it in the casino lol ... they want you to spin it away.

Anything you charge on board will come off of the OBC before it goes to the charge card. If you want to find out how much OBC you have, use this. Where the bold is, insert your booking number instead. It will take you to Carnivals site. Log in and then re enter. It will give you your information on the cruise and you will se a little way down your OBC total. It also give you your luggage tags to print.

On our cruise last month, the OBC doesn't show on your sail and sign account as a negative.  It only shows up as you spend money.  So you will see a drink charge and then a credit charge.  If you don't spend it all you lose it.  That is why so many people talk about the casino trick.

That's what I recall seeing during our last cruise, Guest Services was able to tell me the balance. DW is not familiar with the "not spending it all" philosophy.🤪

I just did this yesterday and it worked just fine (my cruise isn't until next October).  Tried again now and got the same error message.  Someone told about the shortcut.  LOL

You have to replace the XXX123 with your own booking number. Then it will work. You also have to be logged into your Carnival account before you do it.

I did replace it with my booking number, but was not logged in,  Today I tried to log in first, still not working for me, tried on desktop and cell phone

Make sure you are replacing XXX123@ with your booking number not just XXX123.

Also, depending on how your browser handles print instructions, you may have to check to see if you actually downloaded a file (to print) rather than displaying it on the screen.

I've got mine set to not open files when clicking on a link. So in my case, I had to go to the downloaded file and open it to view.
