Restrictions in Cozumel

They do want you to wear masks in the port (when close to other people) and in stores/transportation.

They reminded you to put a mask on when you went through pier security, along with their dog check for food.  On our stops in Coz this month unvaxed kids were only allowed on ship excursions.

Lol to me  mask was a restriction. Hot and sticky when I was there. Normally would have shopped around longer. Ruined it for me.

Damn, I was going to walk around Cozumel but if the chin diaper police are out forget it.

Well gosh... you have to wear a mask while you are inside the ship. And it will be strictly enforced. Unless you are seated eating or drinking. No sippy walky.... the mask police with give you some "advice" which would escalate if you are seen consistently failing to follow the rules.

how will you be handling the police on the ship?

I'll be outside most of the time on deck and I'll wear a mask when inside, no problem. I'm not going to wear a mask outside, thank you.

I know in Alaska on NCL, they told us that we had to wear a mask while in port but no one ever enforced it. Even when someone wasn't wearing a mask, when leaving or entering the ship, no one said anything to them and port security never said anything to anyone. Lots of people not wearing masks in port when we were there and no one batted an eye.

That wasn’t calling you a name, that was them describing you.

mexico has a lot less people vaccinated then alaska.  Different countries, different rules apply and there are a lot more ships stopping in Cozumel, Mexico than Alaskan ports.

The cruise ships want to make sure someone doesnt pick up the virus at any port and bring it onboard.  So if going somewhere like Mexico with less than 25% of people vaccinated, better safe than sorry.

In Alaska, the governor just announced "Crisis Standards of Care" because the hospitals are overflowing with COVID patients.  In many hospitals, only the patients with the best chance of survival are being treated.   The many residents in Alaska may be reluctant to wear masks.  You can see the cause and effect.

Mexico has about 33% of the population fully vaccinated.  Alaska has about 49% fully vaccinated.   But I wouldn't be surprised if the case rate is lower in Cozumel than Alaska ports.  I would wear a mask in either place.

Even outside?  In Nassau, when we left the ship, no masks were required as it was an open area.  Walked some 6-8 blocks near dock area and no masks.

My problem was the Green Band Police.  Happened 3 times in one day entering the Casino as my long sleeve shirt obscured the Vax band.  Also, happened at the Adult show.  Since the Oasis was 100% vaxxed, what was the need for such examinations.  Explanation given at the Adult show was that there were 2 unvaxxed adults on board.

Fire Fly, For months you have been talking about your cruises and you couldn't wait to get on a ship. Now you are surprised that you have all these restrictions? That's not vacation or a cruise.  Spend your money in Florida where there are no restrictions.
