There is discount up to 50% available to those working in the health sector through Aprill 2022 cruises booked by end of September. You do not need to be or have been on the front line, simply prove you work within the sector and you're good to go. Unfortunately you'd need to book tomorrow 30th September at the latest!

THANK YOU TO ALL HEALTHCARE WORKERS
AND THEIR FAMILIES

To you on the frontline during this COVID-19 crisis.
You, who have risked your own lives to save ours, worked overtime and made sacrifices for others, you, more than anyone else, deserve a gift.

As we have now begun sailing once again, MSC Cruises is honoured to offer up to 50% discount on the cruise fare to all healthcare workers and their families, as soon as they are ready for a well-deserved holiday.

Our special ‘thank you’ discounted cruise fares for healthcare professionals and their families will be available for all MSC Cruises’ sailings of any duration for all new bookings made till the 30th of September 2021 on all cruises departing up to 30th April 2022  (WORLD CRUISES excluded).

I received the discount. What is misleading is it is up to 50%. My cruise was 30% off. I got the 5% voyagers discount but they wouldn’t give me the 15% because they were not combinable. But I will take a 30 and a 5. It’s nice that a cruise line recognizes someone other than a veteran, emt, firefighter and teacher. God bless ALL the healthcare hero’s.

When I asked about the voyagers club they said that is not considered another promotion. I got the Labor Day promotion and the 5%. They did give me the extra 50$ obc though. I am happy enough.

I got basically the same answer to my inquiry if Healthcare Heroes Discount and Voyagers Club Discount can be combined. They applied 30% Healthcare Heroes Discount and 5% Voyagers Club Discount but not the 15% Voyagers Club Discount in addition.

It was announced somewhere a few days ago that it was extended, at least for the US. I didn’t really read it, since I knew it didn’t apply to me.

Yep, extended to mid-November - so hubs will get to bid his 2022 regular days off and leave before it expires!  And with the flexible rescheduling terms, we'll be able to push it all way out in case they stop requiring vaccination.

I had a tough time getting information out of MSC call center reps, unfortunately.  He could not tell me if it included the 5% discount, much less the extra 15%. The T&C for the US promotion says the following:

  • Is combinable with promotional rates and MSC Club discount (excluding brochure and group rates)

I got the answer from MSC USA that Healthcare Hero Discount can be combined with Voyager Club 5% Discount but NOT with additional 15% Voyager Club Discount.

I booked Caribbean cruise for October on short notice yesterday.. they applied VC 5% and 15% for immediate payment.. I submitted supporting documents for Healthcare Hero Discount.. approval of HCH Discount deleted 15% VC Discount from booking and added 30% HCH Discount .. plus 5% VC Discount.. I saved 30% and 5% .. the difference was credited to OBC.

Same in UK, and no Voyager Club OBC is applied.....seems fair to me.

Unfortunately certain medical specializations like --orthopaedic &  dental surgeons, eye & skin specialists (working in their own private clinics) are NOT eligible for any healthcare discount

Are you sure? They told me all I had to do was send proof of working in a medical facility. I would think a doc office or am surg would qualify.

We received correspondence back from MSC. This is what they said:

"The Health Care worker discount is only valid on new reservations and only for doctors that work in hospitals directly related to Covid 19."

The following categories are not eligible--

1. Private Doctors/medical staff not employed with hospital facilities and whose specialization are not directly related to Covid-19 (e.g. dentists, orthopedics, dermatologists etc)

2. Any other jobs related to Hospital activities but hired by private companies (such as private cleaning services company, securities or external suppliers)

3. Retired medical staff.

4. Researchers working in laboratories which perform general medical examinations.

Sincerely,

Scott Surace

This seems to have changed over time and/or is subject to the standard MSC whims of when to allow/not allow things.

I have a friend who has bookings with the discount for upcoming cruises  but was denied for a 3 day 8/23 cruise.

But is your friend a dentist, orthopedic, dermatologist, gynaecologist or ophthalmologist working in a private clinic?

If he/she is a general physician in a private clinic or any doctor employed by a hospital, then he/she will qualify.

My point is they DID qualify...they have upcoming cruises with the discount. And now msc is saying they don't qualify (For new cruises they are trying to book).

Somonbeleive somewhere along the line msc changed the criteria...at least in the US.

Him and his wife own a private clinic. It's really his wife who does the HC work...she's a nurse. He works in the clinic tho.

I have another friend whosr wife is a VA nurse and works with covid patients every day. Msc denied them.

  • 3 weeks later...

I booked a reservation last week and had to pay final payment that day for a December cruise on Seashore.   I requested the discount and got a reply the next day that I had forgotten to attach my badge ID with my license.   I responded back with the photo of my badge and haven't heard back from them.   What happens if you have already paid in full?   Do they refund the discounts or does it go into credits?    I'm worried that this all got thru the cracks because I had forgotten the photo.    AAAGH!

The reservation agent I used to book told me that if the discount is applied after final payment the price savings will be in the form of an on-board credit.

This is correct however the OBC is fully refundable if not used onboard (as "verified" yesterday by an MSC rep)
