Again thank you everyone for responding. With regard to COVID-19 cases none we reported which means to me there won't any because in the past they were announced. Of course the opposite could be true and they stopped announcing them.

.

All virus cases -- three or four plus one, if we recall correctly -- on the two Equinox cruises between September 5 and 26 [12 nights plus 9 nights], were announced by the Captain himself.

The facts were not being hidden.  There was no panic and no noticeable increase in the wearing of masks.  We believe that no close contacts of the victims became infected.

We are on Equinox 11/19/21. We are not booking any shore excursions because we don't expect there to be any precautions/social distancing related to Covid. Even in normal times, we've been on so many cruise line excursions with shoddy transportation including vans and buses with the seat belts literally cut off.

If Celebrity wants to profit from their shore excursions, they should take responsibility to make sure the excursions follow the same standards as on the ship.

I really disagree with the original poster. No one can guarantee that you will not get sick. If you are uncomfortable, you have a choice. Don't go.  The cruise line can tell you what precautions they are taking, and you may not see obvious evidence of all efforts either.

As far as excursions are concerned, they use local vendors have been fully vaccinated and maintain safety etc., but again...there are no guarantees. And they cannot possibly tell you that a van will operate with people seated 6 feet apart.  That defies common sense in numerous ways.

Nor should you be able to take a look and back out if you are unhappy.  No one owes you excursions.

Every step is a choice on your part. Make an informed one based on your individual situation and comfort level.

I think you misinterpreted the OP's post. They weren't complaining and said they had a good time. And not going if they weren't comfortable is exactly what they did regarding the excursion. They were just informing people what to expect.

This is the OP. Thank you Earthworm Jim. That was exactly my point. Also the CELEBRITY website clearly states that excursions with transportation will be at REDUCED capacity. That was not the case at all. If a company puts something on their website I believe you should be able relay on that information. I never said it had to be six feet apart.

As someone who was on the 2 sailings prior to the OP I fully support what they wrote.  Celebrity and RCG have made extensive public statements regarding the precautions they are taking to unsure your safety.  They are not living up to their promises especially wrt excursions.  This is important information for people to use to make decisions about how they spend their own travel dollars.

I have been reading everything I can about Equinox as we are cruising Nov 19 as well. Apparently the bracelets were not working.

I also love your attitude…I will do what I am comfortable with and if wearing a mask makes me feel better then that is what I will do…even if they say they are not required.

I had read on cc early on that the tours were way too full….for MY liking…and we decided we will either stay on board or do our own thing.

And as much as we enjoy meeting and chatting with new people, we are planning on enjoying this cruise for us…and enjoying the sunsets, the wake, the views….plus all those other things we have missed the last 18 months….including tours organized by us.

Good of you to remind people what these tours will be like.

thank you.

You may want to check out my youtube videos from the September 17 to September 26 Equinox cruise..lots of pics of the ship and the ports, and of course, my wife and me. You have Grand Cayman scheduled right now..we did two days in Aruba.

IF social distancing is still your thing after vaccines, etc....I would recommend that you stay home.

I've been on two cruises since the beginning of Aug this year, no issues on my end, with any of my travel parties.

Choices are good.

Agree on the van/transportation comment, no way to be 6 feet apart...and is there really a reason to be with every one vaccinated?

PTC Dawg,

This is the OP. Normally I would not even respond to your post. It is extremely obvious you didn't read my original post. The reason for this thread is to tell people what I experienced so people are aware.

What I find most interesting from your post you didn't not address celebrity's website stating that transportation capacity would be decreased and it wasn't. Don't take my word for that other people have posted it as well. Maybe you don't mind a company lying to you.!!!

Like I said, I had a blast. I certainly spent zero time counting heads on excursions…I can’t imagine many do.

LOL. IIRC, last year, before vaccines were even available, you posted on numerous occasions that you were ready to jump aboard if only there were ships sailing. It seems that your level of risk tolerance is considerably higher than most passengers.

If I may inquire of the OP, were there any positive cases on your sailing of which you are aware?  I think =X= may have a misplaced sense of security if no one was positive during the actual cruise.  Who's to say someone's infection week later was in no way related to the lack of SD on the ship?

We were on the 9/26 cruise also. We had a blast as well. We didn’t book any excursions because all the islands required masks indoors and outdoors. We have been to these islands many times, so we didn’t mind not taking excursions. We enjoyed our time on 5he ship. We were able to do a little shopping in St. Lucia and St. Kitts.

We liked to play blackjack and craps, so spent time in the casino.  We also did Chef’s table.

I don’t believe there were any cases of Covid because none were announced. We were really impressed with the food in the ocean view cafe for lunch. It was great having the food served. Everything stayed neat and clean.

We we’re on an RCI cruise 2 weeks before and they were much stricter. We always had a mask with us because we had to wear them to and from places. Once outside or reaching a bar, we could take them off. In the casino, when you sat at a table, they handed you hand sanitizer and they wipe off your sea pass card with sanitizer. The big difference is number of children. Our Equinox cruise had around 4 children. Royal had more, so that may be why they had different guidelines.

Nothing here to help answer @marieps question, as the most current information is very dated. It's "All Known Illness Outbreaks on Cruise Ships" only goes to 2020.

We were on the 9/17 Equinox sailing and never felt uncomfortable.  Of course, we did not do any ship sponsored excursions as we find making independent arrangements the better option.  At this point, it seems those who want socially distance can always find places to do just that and if wearing a mask makes you feel better you should do it.  But I personally felt safer on this cruise ship than most any place I go in public.

I don't know why that poster thought it would be a help.  Seems like a pretty negative site.

I read on a Facebook board that they had to wear tracing bracelets on a recent cruise. I'm very skeptical if this is true. Was this a policy on your sailing?

Heading out on Equinox on November 19 so I'm curious.

Also, 100% agree with your post above. These days you have to do what's comfortable for you, it's not a one size fits all world anymore.

yes it is true

I have been ready, have sailed twice since Aug 1st...Once on Celebrity Equinox and once on RCL Allure.  $$$ where mouth is.

That said no more RCL for me, the inside masking was just too much to tolerate.  Have 2 more booked on Celebrity next year..one is a lift and shift from a year ago...

Looking at NCL for a sailing over New Years this year..never been on a ship for NYE and I think it would be fun.  NCL is currently maskless too...so they would work for me.

Dawg I can't believe you went on a cruise with masks.  You've been pledging no masks for you for 18 months.  Were you aware of the policy when you booked?

Yes, went because of extended family, ie I took one for the team…it wasn’t awful, I always had a drink while inside..none of the passengers seemed to care either.
