Thanks for posting.  I was able to get verified.  I'll call tomorrow to see if they can apply to a cruise I booked for November 2021.  Has anyone been able to do this?

Can you please post what you find out?  I was verified and also have cruise coming up next month.

I got verified. I will call my travel agent to see if my cruises will be reduced. Both my cruises are paid in full. Fingers crossed.

Same. Awaiting a response from our TA.

anticipating that we may have to cancel then rebook. Wondering then how the refunds might work.

If this is truly a thank you, it shouldn’t matter if it’s applied to a previously booked cruise.  We’ll see….

Thank you for sharing this. I got verified, and clicked the link to book cruises. Went thru the whole way up to putting a payment down, and it never reflected a 50% reduced price. Any one able to book and get the lower price?

thanks

The following is from this link: https://www.princess.com/cruise-deals-promotions/first-responder-medical-offer/

I highlighted in yellow why we cannot get the 50% off…yet. Have to wait until the first week in November for an email.

I also see that using the 50% off won’t allow getting the military OBC.

If you look at the full details via the link, you’ll also see mini-suites are not part of the 50% off either.

After You're Verified

Your successful verification will count as an entry into the sweepstakes to win a free cruise for two. The grand prize value of the sweepstakes is $2,500, based on a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise, balcony stateroom for two with drinks, wifi and crew incentive included with Princess Plus.

One grand-prize winner will be randomly drawn and notified on November 1, 2021, after the entry period has closed. If you did not win the sweepstakes you will be notified via email within the fist week of November with an offer for 50% off your next cruise.

Princess offers MedallionClass® vacations, delivering the ultimate in effortless, personalized cruising. Take a REAL vacation with Princess to exciting destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico, the California Coast and more!

Princess Cruises sailings are available for guests who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise and have proof of vaccination. All fully vaccinated guests must also produce a negative, medically-observed COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) taken within two days of their embarkation on all Princess sailings. Crew vaccinations are in accordance with CDC guidelines.

The issue is that Sheer ID can only verify first responders currently employed in the USA.

That is the reason they are not offering an OBC to retired first responders (like the military) or first responders from outside the USA.

I also called and the offer will come via email after the sweepstakes the first week in Nov.

My travel mate is a retired first responder and was sent the email  so being retired was not a disqualifier.  If you are past final payment DATE (not just paid in full) then cancellation policy applies so figure out if the penalty is less then the new fare. That's what I was told however we know the Princess reps on the phone are so knowledgeable they are seldom wrong NOT!

This is a sweepstakes/offer that just opened with a metric shipton of conditions; it's FIFTY PERCENT OFF. You seriously want to throw shade that the reps might not know everything in this case? Please, can we be grateful for fifty percent off without being rude about the reps? I get that they may give you a different answer whenever you call, but this is a very generous thing that Princess is doing; let's just say "thank you" like the First Responders that we are...☺️❣️

Based on the T&Cs for this generous offer retirees from these careers like me are ineligible because it states in section C that it’s only for those who are employed in these careers.

Eligibility: The Sweepstakes is open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia (“DC”) who (a) have reached 21 years of age or older at the time of entry, (b) who are located in the United States or DC at the time of entry, and (c) who are employed as a First Responder (defined for purposes of this Sweepstakes as a Firefighter, EMT, Police Officer, or Paramedic) or as a Medical Professional (defined for purposes of this Sweepstakes an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP), Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (PN/LPN), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Nurse Anesthetists (NA), Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other health care work as determined by Sheer ID).

Boy did you miss boat or didn't read the entire post. I clearly stated my travel companion is a retired first responder got the verification to qualify which had been reported in post 14 as not eligible. The reps do belong under the bus sometimes because they are frequently uninformed BUT that has nothing to do with a 50% off offer. Did you just need an excuse to state nothing?

With ships sailing below 50% occupancy this was a smart sales tactic to get more bookings in a very good way, not entirely altruistic.

Thanks for posting that and I will ask my travel mate how they qualified. Although they are not able to take advantage of this offer anyway because of the following limitations

  • This offer is capacity controlled. There may be some cruises that will be closed or limited capacity for application of this offer.
  • Bookings must be made by December 31, 2021, and sail by February 2022.
  • Mini suites are excluded
