Casino Cash advance question

Recommended Posts

Looking to answer a question concerning a cash advance using a credit card in the casino.  Does anyone on here have experience with how it is charged, specifically does it show as a cash advance on the credit card or does it show up on your sea pass as just a charge out of the casino.  We have a substantial amount of travel credit on a card and we are looking to see if you would be able to access the cash in this manner instead of just using in the form of travel rewards.  Thanks in advance for any insight.

You cannot use a credit card, per se, in the casino.  You use your Sea Pass card, which results in a charge to your onboard account.  It shows up as a Royal Caribbean charge, not a cash advance.  It is added to your folio (Sea Pass Account).  If you are not at least Prime level in the Club Royale program using your Sea Pass card to get casino funds will result in a 5% "convenience fee".

If you wanted cash for purposes other than gambling, you would have to first get casino chips and then turn around and cash them in at the casino cashier for cash.  Whether you gamble with the money or take it out as cash, you would still be charged 5% each time you use your Sea Pass card to get funds.

There is another thread on this topic.  The short answer as we did it on our recent cruise, is to take money out of a slot machine.  As I mentioned the other thread can provide details on how to do it.

Do you have to set something up at the cashier first before being able to put your seapass into a machine and take money from your seapass account? Last trip when I tried, it seemed like I had to set something up first or something.

No. The default pin is MMDD of your birthday.  But I just used credit I had in my onboard account in a slot machine.  Didn’t get money from

a credit card.
