Gary4304 Posted December 19, 2021 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2021 We want to schedule a rapid covid test 12/31or 1/1 for sailing 1/2 on Koningsdam. CVS isn’t showing those dates yet and it’s within the13 days to schedule, any recommendations as to other sites in San Diego?
twodjs Posted December 19, 2021 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2021 The at-home (or hotel) test, observed on-line is so easy and does not have the holiday restrictions.
SFO Peter Posted December 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2021 you can also test using HAL at San Diego. You must register. See below.

Laurenran Posted December 19, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2021 CVS just opened up testing in SD for 12/24. It’s possible they will open up 12/31 next week. If you have insurance, you can also get a rapid at the Same Day health clinic in Pacific Beach for $25.

I couldn't agree more! By far the easiest and best option (though not necessarily the cheapest).
Prairiegurl Posted December 21, 2021 #10 Share Posted December 21, 2021 We are in need of tests either the 31st, or 1st as well. We are flying in on the 29th, so having tests sent to our Airbnb likely isn’t an option. We were hoping for CVS or Walgreens, but so far haven’t been able to book either of the days we need the tests. We are hoping not to have to spend a ton of money, but that’s not looking promising either. Over $100 US for tests that take minutes seems like a bit of gouging. You could have them sent to your home and bring them with you. 2 tests are $69 for the pair.

We are travelling from Canada, and the website says the tests are only available to be shipped within the US. We may try to arrange having them sent to our Airbnb in San Diego though. gowilk Posted December 21, 2021 #14 Share Posted December 21, 2021 cvs is skipping 12/31 and apparently 1/1 as well so their “family members” can enjoy getting drunk on new year’s eve. we are on the zuiderdam leaving same day as you and found that docgo.com can schedule pierside tests in san diego on 1/2…pricey at $100 but the documentation will be done right anyway and the $100 goes on your shipboard account. hope that helps. Can you not order the Switch Health kit to be delivered to your home, and bring it with you to San Diego? Set up your account before you leave, and you should be good. Prairiegurl Posted December 21, 2021 #16 Share Posted December 21, 2021 Sorry. I’m not familiar with Switch Health. In looking at their website, I’m not sure it would work for us. It says the kits cannot be used outside of Canada. I did try to order the kits mentioned on the HAL website, to be delivered to our Airbnb, but they won’t accept a Canadian credit card as payment. CVS isn’t testing the days we need to be tested, and the Walgreens website is garbage. It won’t let me book an appointment in San Diego from a Canadian IP address. This is getting extremely frustrating! We may be forced to pay the $100 each at the pier. 😟

farjar Posted December 23, 2021 #19 Share Posted December 23, 2021 I forgot to mention in my above post WeTestU.com provided an invoice for their services. We submitted the $99 per person invoice to our insurance company and were reimbursed the entire cost within three weeks.
auntiejanie Posted December 25, 2021 #20 Share Posted December 25, 2021 It is a challenge to schedule due to the holidays. I learned that same-day rapid testing is available at San Diego port, on a limited basis. Pre-registration required. The info is within the HAL's FAQ at this link: https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/worry-free-promise/travel-well/frequently-asked-questions/faq-for-cruises-from-usa.html > Scroll to section: COVID-19 Testing Requirements > Scroll down to the 4th Q/A: (Updated) Where Can I Get A Viral Covid Test ... > Scroll down, and you'll see a paragraph that states: "Another testing option may be available for fully vaccinated guests who are having trouble getting a pre-cruise testing appointment on select voyages. For voyages departing from Fort Lauderdale, FL and San Diego, CA through January 9, 2022, we will be able to provide a limited number of antigen tests for fully vaccinated guests only at a cost of $100 per person charged to guests’ shipboard stateroom account. Reservations are required and may be made up to 10 days in advance. Testing will take place on embarkation day at the cruise terminal. Test appointments are subject to capacity restrictions and reservations are required. Click here* to register." The Click here links to the registration website: https://www.docgo.com/cruiseguests Good luck & happy sailing!
