We are taking our first Viking River Cruise in September debarking in Regensburg but are staying in Germany (Kempten)for an additional week - any recommendations on transportation from the cruise port to Kempten after our cruise?

You can check for a train.  Go to DB Bahn or download the app and you can see how to get there.  We take the train lately.  We used the ICE train from Passau to Wurzburg, but buy ticket a few days before and is cheaper and good to reserve seat not much more, we go second class but only have two 21" suitcases and two carry ons.  Also we go regional sometimes too and use the Bayern (Bavarian Pass) good for all day in Bavaria as many stops as you want.  In December the train was 3G which means we had to show our vaccination record as well as the train pass or QR  code that you get on your app when you buy a ticket.  Have fun.
