Has anyone got a link to that.
RaspberryCremeBrulee Posted June 3, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2022 https://www.pocruisesguides.com Currently on Aurora. They don't provide printed port guides like we were used to in the past. However they advise to refer to above link which does contain info re cafes etc. Couldn't get access to above using the free WiFi pages onboard. Had to use paid for internet. Therefore best to review and prepare before your cruise. Local maps have not always been readily available upon arrival at all ports either, so a little more pre-cruise preparation may be advantageous. 1

Shuttle buses on our current cruise could not be guaranteed as it is dependent upon whether individual ports have buses and drivers available. We have however had shuttles so far and they appeared to operate adequately but we only have around 800 passengers on this cruise. Frequency in Klapeida wasn't as good but OK. Tomorrow is Copenhagen and its quite likely no shuttles will be available there. We have just had to look at Horizon newsletter delivered night before each port to be sure if shuttle available. In Bergen in March shuttle was not available. Sorry cannot help any further on this.

I normally do a google search for information and try to print off maps for our ports of call.

molecrochip Posted June 6, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 6, 2022 The new port guides for your specific cruise should eventually be available by the 'App'. As part of updating them, providing them electronically is a new initiative under the sustainability drive and enables you to take the with you to shore on your phone. Its taking time to roll them out.

The post by Kalos as a link we downloaded it works really well, put in our cruise number and the guides appeared to the ports.

It's fine using new technology but with P&Os IT track record one wonders if this is not a "bridge to far".

Have been using it for years! Whilst you're right in that Googling will tell you all you need to know, you're missing the point that everyone is talking about a website that @kalos introduced and @molecrochip later expanded on which is a distillation of the port guides even though it is very much a work in progress at the moment. Different people will like different ways of finding out about their ports of call and one of those ways is via a slick app/website where it's put on a plate for you, some people will use this Google you speak of 😉. Embrace the variety!

Unfortunately Mr Google does not do a very good job of synthesizing the billions of bites of data about everything, into a concise and precise tourist guide for cruise ship passengers with only a few hours to sample a ports delights. 9
kalos Posted June 7, 2022 #20 Share Posted June 7, 2022 Google is ok up to a point and comes in handy . If you search for cruise ship information one of the top search returns will send you to this site anyway . Not all searches give you what you want as I did a Google search for a cigarette lighter. Ended up with 15,000 matches. 1

Fionboard Posted June 7, 2022 #23 Share Posted June 7, 2022 No, just cannot see the difference between a cruise visitor to a destination and a traveller visiting by train, coach or plane. We all require the same sort of information, all of which can be found with a simple internet search.

Therefore the shuttle PDF was the information that was required and not information regarding the port.
