Hello all,

We are considering a 5-day cruise on Celebrity Beyond.

We are having difficult choosing between the various veranda categories, possibly aquaclass if the price difference is no more than $300 (this price difference has been noted on other Celebrity ships, not the Beyond).

Help please

If you do Aqua, you can book a A2 and get a free upgrade to A1.  The only difference is location, but that comes with it at no cost.  I was just reminded  that this is not available for your first cruise, but after that you can join Captains Club.

I would also do a YouTube search for the various cabins.  They are similar on Edge and Apex, all sister ships; however, Beyond is a little larger.  Doing your homework is really important.  A majority of cabins on E-class have Infinite Veranda windows that are controled electronically, but are not true veranda cabins and do provide a little extra room.  Research the Infinite Veranda and Sunset Veranda, so that you can understand their differences.

Thank you Dani and cruisestitch, as I was just in the process of correcting that, but not fast enough!  I have to learn not to post so quickly.

Welcome to Cruise Critic and to Celebrity.

In terms of veranda cabins on the Beyond (one of the Edge Class ships, like Edge and Apex), the most important thing you must know is that most of the veranda cabins do NOT have true, open balconies.  They are what Celebrity calls "Infinite Verandas" (IVs).  They are not what most cruisers would define as balconies (open to the water), more like a sitting area with windows that open (but that the Captain can close on you in bad weather or for other reasons).

The IVs are not for everyone.  Some people like them, some hate them, so please read up carefully here on CC and look at photos and videos to see where you may fall.  Aqua Class and Concierge Class also have the IVs.  About the only way to get a genuine balcony on an Edge Class ship is to book a suite or a sunset veranda.

Research, research, and ask more questions if you have them.

Hi Lioness, We're booked for 9th July 22 and have opted for an A2 stateroom. We're not overly keen on the IV but it's not a show stopper for us. The 'balcony' does look like a smaller space and in those where the bed is veranda end then there's hardly any space between the bed and the folding doors. You'll see in the attached video.

Here's a video of an Aqua Class IV - hope it helps. Interesting to know about the free upgrade from A2 to A1 - we've sailed with Celebrity before but they've not picked it up despite sending them details 4 weeks ago and 1 week ago. I think it's because we didn't register with the CC first time around.

Regards Susan & Michael

picking cabins that suits you can be a challenge.  My choices may be different than yours. Location is important for me.  I prefer cabins midship on decks that are sandwiched between 2 decks of cabins. I try to avoid cabins way forward or aft. Too much vibration.  Never pick a cabin under the pool deck, close to the show lounge, above a cocktail lounge or close to the casino.  I’ve booked those cabins and went crazy from the noise. Also, avoid being in hallways that get lots of foot traffic. I like a veranda cabin.  Open the door and let fresh air in. It also allows you to sit on deck without sitting close to other people. Especially good sailing during pandemic.  Size does matter.  Check cabin dimensions and layout. I prefer bed near bathroom and sofa near window.  Nice to sit and look out at the sea. Bed near bathroom is safer at night when the ship moves faster.  On M ships, I pick concierge because cabins are larger than regular verandas. On S and E no size difference. Tried aqua class once. It wasn’t for me.  Prefer food in MDR.  I avoid sky suites because they have a shower/tub combo.  Also, cost is too high. I have booked suites on other cruise lines when I needed space or that’s the only type of cabin available.
if you don’t care about the things that I listed, save money and book a guarantee cabin.
just being on the ship is good,.  Enjoy the ride.

Here is one of the port hole, in the hull, balconies.  They have sliding glass doors leading to the veranda, as she would find on other ships. They have blackout curtains and sliding glass doors leading to the veranda, as you would find on other ships.
