Just Returned From The Med 2/19 - 2/26

Recommended Posts

Just returned from the Costa Med presidents week cruise. We were a group of 5 in a aft grand suite with adjoining cat. 11 balcony cabin. Embarkation was a breeze, 15 minutes total. Our suite and cabin were on Teseo deck 4. The suite was nice although a little small for 3 people, the balcony was fantastic, just gigantic and we had them open the door to the adjoing cabin which made it even bigger. Lots of nice time spent out there. The bed was comfortable after they put a topper on it, the pillows were feather as requested. Bathroom has some nice tioletries but also included Suave body lotion. That cracked me up as you would think they could do better then that for a suite. I had brought my own so it was not a problem. Robes and slippers located in the walk in closet. Fruit and chilled champagne waiting on the table. Only disapointment was no bidet, I had thought there would be one. Cabin steward and butler were wonderful. The ship is beautiful and very clean. Lots more Americans on this cruise then on my last cruise 3 years ago on the Atlantica. I did enjoy the cultural mix on the Atlantica and was disappointed that this was not to be on the Med. All in all a great time was had by all. Casino was fun, even though a major fight broke out one evening, blood and all. The staff was terrified and a fellow passenger had to break it up. The idiot who started it appeared to be a foolish drunk. I hope they threw him in the brig. Food was just ok, standard banquet fare with a few standouts. The lobster was awful as was the shrimp cocktail. Beef dishes quite good and a very good tuna carpaccio. We had dinner in the Medusa restuarant one evening and enjoyed it. Pools were too crowded for our taste so we did not use them. The ship was full but it was only at the pools that you felt it. Ports were good, weather was great, service was outstanding. Will do Costa again, next time Greece! Happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for your review, what other peaks did you receive for the Suite?

Was there a cocktail party?

Did you do room service? What was included?

One strange question, where would one be able to get tomato juice?

Thanks again

The suite menu offered pretty much whatever you wanted foodwise with the exception of cocktails, soda, wine and beer. We had pots of coffee in the morning and cappucinno every afternoon. They also provide a nice fresh fruit basket everyday. There was a cocktail reception with the captain for suite guests only - the "cocktails" were actually mimosa's champagne and fruit punch. This was held in the Medusa restaurant at 11:30 am. You also get a free dinner in the Medusa on one night of your choice. As for the tomato juice I have no idea if it was available.
