Shipboard credit

As mentioned on another thread, I'm looking at a cruise where O is offering OLife Ultimate which includes all three of the perks usually available as a "choose one".

Taking the advice consistently offered here, we've never considered choosing shipboard credit but am now wondering what we're going to use it against. I've looked at O's FAQs which seem to indicate its use for excursions, culinary classes, La Reserve, and spa treatment. Is that its limit or am I missing something other use?  Like playing in the casino with their money?

TIA

You can use it for the auto-gratuities charges, corkage, wine and cocktail purchases (including upgrading the O Life basic booze perk to the Prestige package @$20/pp/day.

The SBC is a credit on your shipboard account so it will pay for anything charged to your account....we do not gamble so someone else will have to answer the question about taking money out of your shipboard account to play in casino.

I do not believe it can be used in the casino  but we always use cash  (so I can control my donations)

Also cannot be used for deposits for  future cruises

You can  use it for upgrades to the Prestige package  or other alcoholic drinks not covered by the House select 0 Life deal

Ahha. Mrs Harters was wondering if the credit could be used in the shops.

That's where I have used mine in the past. I have a lovely Michael Kors watch from one of those shopping trips!! 🙂

Boutiques (pre-Covid) always had a nice collection of Furla purses that one cannot resist...

I got $250 SBC when Oceania canceled or cruise. Can I use that to pay for gratuity?  I know that I can’t use $300 SBC from Amex cruise privilege program and $100 SBC from own Norwegian stock to pay for gratuity. Not sure if SBC from Oceania can use for gratuity.

The shipboard credit from AMEX and NCl appears as a creidt on your shipboard account and so anything that is charged to your account will be covered by those credits.....we have definately used both SBC to pay for gratuities when we didn't have prepaid gratuities.  I believe the only place onboard you can't use the SBC is in the casino...

Thank you for clarification.  I see Amex and Oceania SBC on my account now. I read on Amex terms and conditions and it said “credits cannot be used for casino charges, gratuities or other similar charges.”  Good to know I can use to pay for gratuity. Thank you
