I liked it better when ships were half empty.

Me too! I was hoping it wouldn't ease up for my cruise next month and it wouldn't be a full sailing.

Hush up and into the can, sardines!

Please remember that on cruises to Alaska, passengers 12 and up need to be fully vaccinated, and must be able to show proof.

Passengers age 2 and older must arrive at the terminal with a negative Covid test result.

I was told by my Carnival PVP that kids do not need to be vaccinated for Alaska but at this time, they will not be able to get off in Victoria unless that changes.  We have Alaska booked for Aug 2023 so I am fairly certain even that rule will be dropped by then.

Grand cayman still has a vaccinated requirement. I can sail but not get off the ship in that port per grand Cayman. Not me personally, I mean general requirement. Dont book grand Cayman if not vaccinated. Or bermuda or Canada.

I saw some worried that some of the exceptions are plain on ccl.

I'd book, just getting rid of pre testing ...I'm in. Looking for something after next march. Need a deals for everyone kind of thread, not just for casino deals. Bring on the deals.

I honestly don't know the state of demand for cruising. But I don't put much faith in headlines about increased bookings. If you do a search for "cruise ship bookings up" you will find articles proclaiming the huge increase in bookings from the time cruising reopened and regularly ever since.

The cruise lines have PR departments whose job is to make people think there is a huge demand and cruising is the popular thing to do not matter what the truth is. Most news outlets don't do their own reporting for "space filler" stories, they just publish what PR folks send them. That is why all these stories will reference what the media outlet was told and not what the outlet found.

I would think that demand is increasing, but is it increasing enough that the average cruiser who does not get special deals will pay more or is it only increasing enough that the cruise lines will not have to give away as many free berths to those getting special deals?

Who knows? Only time and our wallets will tell.

Of course it is increasing and I don't think it is because of casino deals. Gamblers are notoriously fickle anyway. They are useful for jumpstarting, but I don't think Carnival should bet the farm on them.

$CCL may not get much money directly from casino guests (they don't pay for drinks, often don't buy excursions, etc), but the casino gets a lot of money from casino guests - and the casino pays a lot of money to $CCL.

What they get is full ships. It was always part of the restart strategy. If you set the price low enough people will cruise, plague or not. Carnival played the gamblers.

During this 2022 Alaska cruise season, if your kids are under the age of 12, they currently do not have to be vaccinated to sail to Alaska with a stop in Canada.

Children under 12 who are not vaccinated would need to arrive at Seattle's Pier 91 with a negative Covid test result.  At the pier, before the under 12 child passenger could be checked in, the child would be given another Covid test.  Once that test result came back with a negative result, then the under 12 yr old child be checked-in.  If the test was positive, the child would be denied boarding.

If your child was 12 yrs old or older and unvaccinated, or not considered fully vaccinated, and arrived at Pier 91 for an Alaskan cruise, they would be denied boarding.

It will be interesting to see what the Canadian gov't does for the 2023 cruise season.

Of course they are. 33 percent of the population was banned from cruising and now are not. I have three cruises booked between now and Christmas and I booked them all the night of the announcement.

No one was ever banned.  You made the choice not to follow Carnival's rules.  Get your facts straight.

I read that requirement about Grand Cayman is being lifted August 24th.

News to me. I cruise there sept 18 and we have had nothing but a statement that no one age 12 and over can get off the ship unvaccinated.  Where did you see it will be changed. Can you provide a link to the change. Lots of parents on my sept 18 cruise would like the link. You can cruise but cant get off in grand Cayman unvaccinated over age 12.

And a heads up for Bermuda. Not sure carnival goes there or not. They had a $40 application to go there everyone hoped would be lifted. Instead of lifting it they just doubled down. Unvaccinated now also need to provide proof of insurance some over on rcl just posted the email.

Haha!   Don’t you know it.   I just said 3 days ago that my very first Ultra offer wasn’t a very good deal.

Did I book it yesterday?  Yes.🤷‍♀️
