MSC have changed the date of our cruise and we had already booked flights

Hi I'm wondering if this has ever happened to anyone. MSC changed our dates of our cruise due to operational issues?? I'm not sure what that means. I rang and the girl was helpful but said we'll have to contact operations via email so I'm awaiting a reply still. The original cruise is still sailing though so not sure what the issue is. Would they have overbooked it? I have flights booked now too so it's very inconvenient. Thanks in advance for any help or stories that people might have similar to this and what they did to resolve the issue?
