Woody14 Posted October 13, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2022 I took my first Carnival cruise recently and in my researching of the things not to miss and other tips there was lots of references to sea day brunch as something not to miss. So I took it in and I don't get it. It seemed like it was basically breakfast menu with the addition of steak frits and burger to the menu. Did I totally miss this or ??? bigdog1958 Posted October 13, 2022 #2 Share Posted October 13, 2022 When it was first introduced, the menu was more extensive, including filet mignon. now its cut down quite a bit. However, it's still nice to have another option for food
silvercrikhix Posted October 13, 2022 #3 Share Posted October 13, 2022 It had a great menu when it started, now it’s just meh. It’s hours were also cut so Brunch nearly no longer applies.
wesorbeth Posted October 13, 2022 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2022 We go to the MDR for breakfast everyday, mainly because I cook and wait on the family at home. It's nice to have someone wait on me besides I do not care for buffets. I do get the occasional breakfast burrito.

It's definitely not the breakfast menu. There are breakfast items on it. But they aren't the same ones that are on the breakfast menu. You don't have skillet cakes, or 12 hour french toast, or steak n eggs on the breakfast menu for example.
Rare pirate4me2 Posted October 13, 2022 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2022 We have not been to it since COVID shutdown, but will be checking it out next month on Mardi Gras. We use to love it, I am hoping it will still be a highlight of the cruise!
Lee Cruiser Posted October 13, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2022 We've never been big fans of the brunch. We went once on our last cruise just to get an omelet without the long line, but that's the first time in several cruises.
sgttami Posted October 13, 2022 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2022 There used to be a big emphasis on the Seaday Brunch with the Bloody Mary bar that was set up near the entrance and a more extensive menu. Your "free" drink was always good at the brunch bar. I haven't seen this in a long time.
xraymomma Posted October 13, 2022 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2022 My favorite part is the seven layer chocolate cake and it’s only served at sea day brunch. I don’t care that much about the rest of the menu, but that cake is ridiculously good.
cruisingguy007 Posted October 13, 2022 #10 Share Posted October 13, 2022 I enjoyed sea day brunch a lot when they had it, I also enjoy the new sea day breakfast as well. The pancake my son ordered and didn't finish was probably the best pancake I ever had in my life, literally perfect in every way. I also enjoyed all the items I had, especially the huevos rancheros, omelets, hashbrown rounds ect. It's much better than the buffet and the other available options, that's for sure. I think that is what most people are referencing, it's simply the best option and the food is good.

Rare sparks1093 Posted October 13, 2022 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2022 It's a nice sit down meal. I greatly enjoyed the filet mignon and eggs. The banana cream pie was some of the best I've had.

Is there a separate sea day breakfast menu from the sea day brunch menu or are you referring to the lido buffet breakfast?
sanmarcosman Posted October 13, 2022 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2022 All the recent brunch menu changes and the substitution of an inferior strip loin steak for the filet mignon on the old menu for the steak and eggs item has made us prefer the Port Day Breakfast Menu all the more. Yes, some changes were made to the Port Day menu as well but not to the extent of the brunch menu, e.g. the breakfast board was removed as was the excellent Indian masala dosa which was unfamiliar to most Americans. The Port Day Breakfast in the MDR beats the sea day brunch for us anymore and it's far less crowded than brunch.

tonit964 Posted October 13, 2022 #18 Share Posted October 13, 2022 I remember when it first started as the George Lopez Comedy Sea Day Brunch or something like that and they would have the comedian on board go in, walk around the dining room and do a short comedy act. The comedians always looked so “ thrilled “ to be there. 🙄
ray98 Posted October 13, 2022 #19 Share Posted October 13, 2022 It is because todays Sea Day Brunch is a shell of what it once was.

No, I'm referring to the fact that it's no longer a sea day brunch, it's a sea day breakfast with the current hours. It's breakfast that self identifies as brunch, madness I tell ya! 😁 Edited October 13, 2022 by cruisingguy007
Pyxie Posted October 13, 2022 #21 Share Posted October 13, 2022 (edited) Personally, I still love the sea day brunch, but I miss the filet. I've since shifted to the huevos rancheros as my go-to dish. Edited October 13, 2022 by Pyxie

Too painful😉
klfrodo Posted October 13, 2022 #23 Share Posted October 13, 2022 The OP tried it, didn’t enjoy the experience. Why do people feel the need to defend the experience? OP didn’t attack anyone. Didn’t demean anyone. Didn’t belittle anyone.

csm5986142 Posted October 13, 2022 #25 Share Posted October 13, 2022 I'm not really a breakfast person, but I do like the yogurt parfait on the brunch menu (and I haven't found it offered anywhere else on the ship).
