Hi

I want to thank everyone on this board. Your information has made our cruise more enjoyable. I loved this cruise and will be back.

We just got back a little while ago and will try to write something in a day or so.

IF you have any questions for me you can send me a email or post it on the topic and I will try to answer you.

Just a couple of things before I go do the laundry...

The NY port wasn't as bad as I expected we got there around 11am and the driver was able to pull right up and drop us off. They were still getting people off the other cruise, and it was crazy however we just kept asking questions. We found a porter that took our luggage, and went into the terminal. We finally found someone that told us to go wait upstairs. If you get there early look for two Carnival employees that are upstairs going around and checking your documents. They check them and put a sticker on them(a great time saver). around 12n the started to open the doors for everyone to though security. There was one line that the customs guys were glancing at pictures and waving them through and the other line(we were on) he was inspecting the picture id and us. I am not complaining but maybe the other guy should have been doing the same thing. We then waited for them to start processing us throuh ex-ray. Once that started the line moved. You then walk to the back of the terminal and if you have the blue sticker you don't have to go through the long line were the check you documents and give you your cards. You are waived to the end of the line, you get your cards and you are on your way. We were in our room by 1PM.

One more thing the cruise directer Cris Jefferson got engaged on this cruise to his girlfriend the head dancer.

Now I really have to go and do laundry. Let me know if you have any specic questions.

Thanks

Patti

Hi Patti,

Can't wait to hear all the details from your cruise. I will be sailing on the Legend on 5-31. Can you please fill me in a little on the debarkation process. Did you do the self assist or did you leave your luggage out the night before? What time did you get off the ship today? I'm trying to estimate a time to have my car service pick me up when the ship returns. Also, thanks for the update on Chris Jefferson. He was a social host on the Victory two years ago and we thought he was great.

Can't wait for the rest of your details.

Nancy

Patti,

I'm traveling on the Legend in August. Which room did you have and what would your room recommendations be if you were to do it again? What did you do during port days? Any interesting hints you can give us?

What excursions did you take in the different ports? Did you like the cruise director? How was the motion on the ship, I hear it is a little rougher sailing out of NY? When you sail out of New York which side of the ship is the statue of Liberty on?

I will still try to write quick review but I think I am covering allot of my review here.

1. As another poster said if you self assit you should be off the ship around 9:30. We did not do this and was the second floor called. I think we got off around 10:30, might have been a little later.

2. We were in room 8159. I had a 8A Guarantee and was upgrade to an 8I. I was worried about the movement and the noise from the lido deck. However it didn't seem to be a problem. I would hear chairs or noise up above every once in a while but I was able to sleep some days to 9:30AM.

3. We walked around San Juan. In St. Thomas I the Godfree tour and in Tortola we went to Virgin Gorda with the Carnival excursion. I loved Godfree's tour and the Virgin Gorda excursion was great. I would be afraid to do it on your own. We just got back in time for the ship to leave. It had to wait for us..

4. As for Chris the cruise directior I have nothing to compare him to. He didn't annoy me. He seemed to like what he was doing and was very freindly. As I said before this is my first cruise so I have nothing to compare him with.

5. It was rough the first day and half on the ship. We took Boninne and it never seemed to bother us. I didn't hear of anyone getting sick but it was funny not to be able to walk in the hall a straight line.. and not have had any drinks..

6.The Statue of Liberty was on the right side of the ship. We did miss that part because we had early seating. I should have gone in late, that is what maney people did.

7. As far as the docs and Tortola, I did see that mentioned on mine also. They said nothing about that on the ship. However I may be wrong but I don't know if there is many things to do. You might be able to hire a taxie to drive your around the island. The town looked small however I would have liked to look around some more but the excursiong to Virgin Gourda took all the time.

I think I answered all the question. Let me know if you have more.

Thanks

Patti

Hi we just returned on the Legend the 15th - We loved it - We did the Virgin Gorda Tour, a carnival recommended excursion. It was great - I got seasick on the 40 min boat ride to get there-but once I got there I was OK- It was $85 p/p. I highly recommend it. I was not physically able to do the last climb thru the last segment, but the rest of my party all said it was great, and well worth the climb. We were told to fill out some card at the port for Tortola and then never mentioned again. I know a passport is not required - but we have one, and it's a whole lot easier, and quicker for the authorities to check. This day and age, I wouldn't be without one. It takes a few months for it to come, and I think they're up to $80 ea, but it's good for 10 years. And it's absolute proof of your nationality.

Food during the day - at lunch time they did a "taste of nations", Lido deck, midship,"features delicious cuisine from a different part of the world" it was announced each day in the Capers-- , always pizza - excellent - plus always the "grill" - hamburgs, hotdogs, etc, also excellent - plus a deli for sandwiches, and a buffett. There were days when we got tired of waiting in line, so we'd order room service for lunch. The shrimp salad sandwich is to die for ----and the brownies are better than on the destert island!

The CD was great ---and cute! I'm glad to hear of his engagement. We felt he did a great job - although our last cruise was with JH, he's a hard act to follow - Chris does a great job.

Hope I helped - don't hesitate to ask anything else --Kathy
