Exbuilder1 Posted October 30, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2022 We will be travelling to Tenerife South with Jet2. We are first time cruisers with P&O and any information on transfers from the airport to the cruise would be appreciated and the same would apply for information on luggage handling at Tenerife South then onto the ship. Thanks

Thanks Whenever we have cruised from Tenerife the transfers have been part of the package, if the plane is a charter you won't need to do anything with luggage after you have dropped it off at your home airport, it will appear outside your cabin.

Does that apply to luggage after Brexit ? I seem to rember reading that in Malta, you have to collect your luggage now.
rumbalizw Posted November 2, 2022 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2022 Do check regarding collecting luggage as its been pick up off luggage carousel recently. Personally, its a good thing ,as at least you can act on any missing cases at the airport.
LinniB Posted November 2, 2022 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2022 We fly 12th November and have been told we need to collect luggage at airport and take to the coach
ElmaLee Posted November 2, 2022 #7 Share Posted November 2, 2022 You will need to collect your luggage at TFS airport. P&O staff will then take it from you and next time you see it is outside your cabin.

The transfers are still included if you have taken a P&O flight included package (they are selling some cruises without flights now. The luggage however does need to be collected from the Carousel in Malta or Tenerife and taken to a van which will then take the cases to the ship and you will find them outside cabins after that. For the return the luggage is still put outside cabins at the end of a cruise and if on a charter flight, that will not be seen again until you arrive at your UK airport.
wowzz Posted November 2, 2022 #10 Share Posted November 2, 2022 So, for EU cruises, the definitive answer is that you have to collect your luggage.

Absolutely, but the key point is that you must collect the luggage in the first place !

Are cases still collected from outside your cabin the night before? We usually keep a small overnight bag for clothes, toiletries etc to get ready in the morning of departure and then transfer the contents to hold luggage before check in at the airport Sounds like we might be using travel versions of everything! Other half wont be pleased 😲

Other half wont be pleased 😲 Luggage goes straight to the plane from outside your cabin if you are on a charter flight, like they did pre covid. If you are on a scheduled flight you would need to collect your luggage as you disembark, then it will travel with you to the airport, when you have to check the luggage into the hold. On the last morning, we usually just keep a small soap which we had been supplied by an hotel previously (we have a small collection of them) or could just be an almost used bar. For toothpaste we often just squeeze some into the bottom of a glass. So no problem popping any remaining soap into an airport security bag IMO. My roll on deodorant and face cream are only 50ml containers so again no problem. With 10 kgs of the weight allowance being for hand luggage most people had a fair amount with them on the plane.

In that case is it bonded for the return flight only. TUI charters to the caribbean and i think Dubrovnik are bonded in both directions
