dcsam Posted December 31, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2022 We want to drive to Vancouver and spend the night before our cruise. Are there any nice hotels that include secure, gated parking? Like a ‘park and cruise’. Would love to be near the dock, but don’t know if there are any hotels that would meet our needs. We’d be leaving it for 10 nights. Suggestions? Thank you. dcsam Posted December 31, 2022 Author #2 Share Posted December 31, 2022 Another side not: Keeping things simple is key. Hubby is ‘walking challenged’, so we’d prefer staying at a place so close to the ship that no transfers are needed. So parking and overnight right at cruise are would be ideal… if there’s such a thing. Thanks again
fluffyscruffy Posted January 2, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2023 I think the Pan Pacific Hotel is at the cruise terminal.
Urban trekker Posted January 3, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2023 Yes the Pan Pacific is at the cruise terminal and the Fairmont Waterfront is across the street and is linked to the cruise terminal by an underground food court etc.
Rare martincath Posted January 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2023 Long-term hotel parking is very limited downtown - virtually all operate on a 'park only when you are staying' basis. The PP seems like the best bet of budget isn't an issue, as you can use the pier's parking (~CAD24 a day IIRC), so literally everything you need is within the same building. If you're driving up in hopes of saving some cash though, the only 'park & cruise' options I know of these days are out in the 'burbs, airport hotels basically. The downside of all of those though is that for any dining and sightseeing you have to move around - so hubby's mobility issues will be problematic. If it's just hubby who has mobility issues and you don't mind going solo for a bit, you could park at the airport (long terms lot often has discount codes, so can be less than half the price of pier parking) and take SkyTrain downtown. Dropping hubby & luggage at your downtown hotel first makes for the easiest possible trip - but you might also consider driving straight to YVR, parking, then taking a fixed-price cab downtown together (CAD$34 to most, $38 to the PP or Fairmonts right at the pier). Given how compact out core is, a cab to the pier will almost certainly work out less than US$10 from literally any downtown hotel - and every hotel has multiple dining options within a couple of blocks. Note that if you plan to drive around some sites rather than just straight to your long-term parking, even if you have disabled plates you need a temporary permit from SPARC for visitors to be able to use accessible parking spots - don't park in one of these unless you arrange the permit, or you risk not just a ticket but a tow!
