Victory 5/16-5/23 review

Recommended Posts

Just got back from the Victory. What a nice ship she is..the decor actually matches throughout the ship unlike most of the other Carnival ships! Embarkation was very simple. We were on the ship by 1:00PM and had our luggage outside our door by 3:00PM. Quick!

Our suppers were in the Pacific Dining room which like everyone has said is not easy to find! We had to remember to go all the way to the back from our Empress Deck cabin and then down to level 3. The food for the most part was good...the beef wasn't super great but good! Our two waitstaff (both women) were wonderful..very friendly and attentive.

The Captain's cocktail party and the Past Guest Party were both excellent with many hot appetizers and different types of drinks being served. The last time we were on the Destiny we got a plate of melon balls and cheese cubes at the past guest party!!

The formal nights were very nice with a lot of dressed up people..although not as dressed up as I've seen on other cruises. Not too many tuxes either! The photographers were quite annoying coming around to every table during dinner taking pictures and blocking the promenade deck near the atrium taking pictures against the railings.

The Cruise director, Carlos, is very funny. He does an excellent job at what he does! The entertainment was good in the various lounges and on the promenade deck outside the casino. Ron Pass, from the piano bar was suberb...the best entertainer I've seen on Carnival. He is leaving after this week for vacation and starts on the Glory in late July.

We didn't see the two main productions in the showroom because we had already seen them on the Glory in February. We did see the magician/illusionist and he was good.

The ports of call were San Juan (not much here at night-time), St. Thomas (we took the ferry from Charlotte Amalie to St. John and Trunk Bay...not so good snorkeling ..no fish) and St. Maarten, where unfortunately it was very cloudy and rainy part of the day.

The last two days at sea we spent by the pool of course to get those few rays of sun that were available before the trip home to the north!

Debarkation on Sunday was very well done and a breeze..best we've seen yet. We were allowed to stay on the ship until almost 10:30 and then we were off to the airport.

It was a very nice week and I would love to spend another week on the Victory.
