Many years ago I made bags up for my girlfriends. I think I got the idea from this board. I wrote a small note saying what each item was for. For example

tissues- for when we laugh til we cry, lifesavers- for if we get in trouble, aspirin - we know what that might be for. 
anyone heard of this and other ideas? Thanks
