jerseyjjs Posted May 26 #1 Share Posted May 26 I can't remember if you can keep your phone on your regular service while sailing out of the Cruise Maryland terminal down the Chesapeake Bay for the 8-9 hours until the ship passes over the Bay/Bridge tunnel. And if so, is the reception better than the ship's wifi? Anybody have recent experience? TIA.

Just don’t forget to put it into airplane mode before you go to bed. You don’t mention your cell carrier. You need to include that info to get a reliable info on reception. We sailed Grandeur a few years ago out of Baltimore - we had great cell phone connection from sailing until we went to bed - shortly before exiting the Bay around midnight. alleghator Posted May 26 #4 Share Posted May 26 We had good reception on Verizon the whole embarkation day, even after sail away. I put my phone on airplane mode at bedtime (11pm).

Not all ships sail the same speed. One time the fog was so bad that it took 12 hours to return from the entrance to the bay to Baltimore. The fog horn was constant and we got no sleep.
