Sadly, it was terrible on 2 different ships...but based on the responses here, it sounds like they may have fixed the problem. I did have a burger on the Sun recently and it was much better. The patty was thick and juicy, really good. Some on the ship were saying the burgers from there were better than American Diner, and you PAID EXTRA for the AD ones!! FFWD to 2023, on the Escape. Ordered the same burger. It was good, but the patty seemed like one you'd get at the buffet with the additional toppings added. I agree. The best burger we had was also at the Local on the Joy! Rare BirdTravels Posted June 15, 2023 #53 Share Posted June 15, 2023 We recently had a burger at The Local and the buffet. Both were good. Frozen burgers are fried on a flat top. It helps if they take the time to sear them. But they don’t. Burgers are not grilled (no open flames in galley). So it is more McDonalds than Burger King. dbrown84 Posted June 15, 2023 #56 Share Posted June 15, 2023 I'm one that close the club and casino down at night then hit O'Sheehans for a late night drunk snack. My goto used to be the wings, but they changed the way the cook them and they are now terrible to me. Now, it's definitely the burgers. I think they taste great. I add bacon and corned beef to mine 1 1

complawyer Posted June 16, 2023 #58 Share Posted June 16, 2023 dbrown84. if you can manage to close down the casino and still find room for a bacon/corned beef burger, my hat is off to you. i didnt even know they had corned beef onboard an ncl ship. kudos to both you and your apparent cast iron stomach ! LOL im currently having cramps just thinking about it

I did have one server who insisted I couldn't do that. so I had to order a burger and a reuben, then took the beef and put it on my burger

We sailed on the Getaway in May, and we loved the burgers at O'Sheehan's. Well the O'Sheehans burger on Breakaway was identical to the buffet, and definitely a frozen patty. I wonder, I'm on a 11 night. Perhaps different burgers....but they are crap! Edit: American Diner closed. Was open yesterday on only sea day of the cruise, they say only opens for sea days. They said it only opens for breakfast now. Closed every day. Ffs! Edited June 16, 2023 by podgeandrodge

I saw something I didn’t know existed in the galley on a behind the scenes tour. There were these big logs of ground beef that someone had the job of cutting, weighing and putting through some sort of “flattening” machine to form them into burgers. I didn’t know such things existed.
Rare scooter6139 Posted June 16, 2023 #62 Share Posted June 16, 2023 Haven Burger. Ok, not great. American Diner. Meh to bad (split with the wife, as I had the Chicken Caesar) Local Western Burger (I think hat was what it was called) Delicious.

Mushy, greasy and tasteless burger patty, and of course the bun fell apart😒 Later in the cruise he tried again and requested they put it on the Pretzel Bun (from fish sandwich). It was a better burger but still didn't have the good burger taste he had on prior cruises. However, the pretzel bun held together. Although he loves a good burger, he is learning to try other items on that menu😉 Yea. What's the deal with NCL hamburger buns. From my first cruise forward, the buns were kind of dry and always fell apart. I frequently just ate the burger without the bun. NCL's other bakery products are always good. Can't they get a better burger bun???

The rationale was the top of the bun is thicker and less prone to disintegration.
crow99 Posted June 19, 2023 #70 Share Posted June 19, 2023 Just got off Escape - I had a burger (skinny / no bun) as lunch a couple of times from the buffet - every time I picked a fresh one and always found them good with a few toppings and fried - I'm pretty simple when it comes to easy grilled food though!
