Rare Lionesss Posted August 31, 2023 Author #176 Share Posted August 31, 2023 The port provides free busing to town. The line wraps around the building with 2 ships in port. We got off the shop early to do some shopping. But. A few shops. Now just waiting and waiting till our excursion. Be safe

techteach Posted August 31, 2023 #179 Share Posted August 31, 2023 We did the Bear Fortress Center and really enjoyed it. Did anyone hear the man whistling beautiful music last night just after we left Ketchikan? He was in what I think is the smokers area outside on deck 3? 4? I know there were people with phones out and I hope they post the video here. I have a very short version from deck 9 above him looking down, but it’s on my phone and need to wait until it syncs up. Ask around. It was pretty amazing.

Coralc Posted August 31, 2023 #181 Share Posted August 31, 2023 (edited) The raptor center is awesome! Great photos, Sue! ☺️ Next time I think we will probably go to the bear place. They were all sleeping last time were there. It was too early in the season. Edited August 31, 2023 by Coralc

He whistled the Star Spangled Banner and the God Bless America then we had to leave for our dinner reservation. He was incredible!
Husky1987 Posted September 1, 2023 #183 Share Posted September 1, 2023 We took the shuttle bus into town (about 8:30 am there was no line) and just dinked around Sitka for a few hours going into all the shops before heading back to ship ship about 1:00 after have a reindeer dog and some great street tacos for lunch. Bought some different flavors of sea salt and some kelp pickles. It’s a really neat little town (little by population but not area…Sitka is the largest by area city in the US, over 4000 square miles including water)!
Rare Lionesss Posted September 1, 2023 Author #184 Share Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) IT’s morning. Captain just finished an update on our current situation. After conferring with local cruise authorities it has been decided that due to the fog and icy passage way to the glacier and for safety of the ship we will not be going in the inlet to view the glacier. He said another cruise ship ahead of us reported unsafe conditions. We are being re-routed and will be arriving early to Juneau Alaska. Looking out our balcony you can see the fog more dense at various times. Also our first iceberg. Be safe. Here was my view off the balcony around the time the captain was making the announcement at about 6:30 this morning… couldn’t even see the shoreline a couple hundred yards away…
Rare Lionesss Posted September 1, 2023 Author #186 Share Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) How to be confused on a cruise ship. My Apple Watch says one hour difference to ship time. We set our watches back like instructed by a memo. But mine keeps going back to its own time. So our current time from the smart board. Being safe. Rainbow is there. Loungers a plenty. Getting ready for laser tag. Bumper cars. Wall clock by Solarium. Stairwell words of wisdom. Snow. Solarium menu. Coffee in Suite lounge. Rare Lionesss Posted September 1, 2023 Author #190 Share Posted September 1, 2023 Late comments on Sitka tour. Raptors——excellent Eagles—excellent National park. Salmon run —excellent Tour guide —excellent Dance—😔 It was done very well until the last stop. We went to a dance presentation choreographed by native Alaskans. Although it was great seeing their culture being passed down to subsequent generations. However The show was very repetitive and seem to last forever. I gave them credit for keeping their heritage alive. But needs some finishing touches. We were one of the last guest to get back to ship. But not pier runners. Be safe.

Rare Lionesss Posted September 2, 2023 Author #200 Share Posted September 2, 2023 Good morning. Woke up to significant rolling on board. I literally bounced from one wall to the other walking to breakfast. When looking out the window no whitecaps just maybe 2 foot waves (guessing). Sea day Updates to follow. P.S. Rest in Peace Jimmy Buffett I was honored to watch your gift of Music ( singing) in concert.
