TiredTrucker Posted October 4, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Hi, we are sailing the Panorama in March and will be flying in/out of Long Beach via Southwest Airlines. Ship is supposed to dock at 9:00 and our flight out is 11:30 (the only nonstop flight available that day). Long Beach airport is at least close to the cruise terminal but with potential for the boat to be late docking and stories of travelers unable to get Uber/Lyft to actually pick them up from the terminal...well, are we setting ourselves up for failure? Another question, this is our first cruise and I'm curious when it comes to disembarking how should we go about making it as quick and painless as possible so that doesn't slow us down? Thanks! lasvegascruising Posted October 4, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2023 Cruised on the Panorama December 2022. We did not feel like navigating the Uber/Lyft scene so we headed over to the taxi line. It was very organized and we were off to the airport. It was about $50 including tip. Just wanted to give you another option.

Rare mkkao924 Posted October 4, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) I think it didn’t happen often, but for our March 2023 Panorama cruise, we experienced weather issue (strong headwind) and had to slow down. As a result, we didn’t get to Long Beach until 10 am, and nobody was able to get off until after noon. We are local so it didn’t bother us (more time to enjoy, although the sea was rocky the entire night) Like I said, it could be one off, but it does happen. In general, there are two ways to disembark from a cruise ship at the end of the trip and a lot depends on your physical mobility. 1) you will put your bags outside your cabin door the night before, and then pick them up just prior to Customs/immigration in the arrival hall. In this case you would be given a "walk-off" time a few days before and will leave at that time. 2) the preferred method in your case, is what is called "self-walkoff" where you keep all your luggage and take it with you when disembarking. You need to be able to manage all your suitcases etc. The advantage of self walkoff is that you are generally the very first set of passengers allowed off the ship, which can help with lines at Customs/Immigration. Although we have never sailed Carnival, this is the way we always disembark, from Princess, Celebrity or NCL, and is particularly important when we have a tight airline flight home. Among the first off the ship, easy access to taxis etc.Have a great cruise
Rare EllieinNJ Posted October 11, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2023 We have to fly out of LAX on a Saturday, May 4, 2024. Would a 2:15pm time on United be good? The next time is 4:15pm but it won't get to NJ until after midnight.

Any time after 12PM on a Saturday should be good, assuming you are talking about the same 9AM arrival time.

Yes. The Carnival Panorama. It is suppose to arrive at 9am but I am reading some horror stories on FB that it is coming in as late as 11:30-12 and people are missing their flights. sanspike Posted October 13, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 13, 2023 We had an issue with low tide and the ship could not dock in time. We were so stressed out by the time we made it to LGB.
