Hello all, joetrizeo here again with more tips that could or could not be useful to ya. My tip info this time...

Navigating and getting around onboard the Magica.

This info is for thoes of you who like to know where you're going and hate getting lost.

Now by the end of the cruise you will be very fimiliar with the ship layout, but the first few days can be confusing. So I offer you these tips, take it as you will.

The magica has 17 decks, 13 of which are for guest use.

Thoes decks are 0 - 12.

The main trick to the magica is that not all floors run the entire length of the ship (meaning you cant go from front to rear on every floor). Also, not all elevators go to all the decks.

Deck 0 is the deck you use to get on and off the boat weither you are walking out to a dock or boarding a tender. The only exception to this is when you are in the FLL port, you get on and off the boat on deck 3. There is nothing else on deck 0. Furthermore, the AFT elevator does not go down to deck 0, you must use the middle one or 'i think' the front one (not sure, i only used the middle one).

Deck 1 & 2 - All cabins. You can get to all 3 elevators and walk the entire length of the ship on deck 1 & 2.

Deck 3 - from front to back, Main floor of Urbano Theater, Italia Magica Bar and main floor of Atrium, Excursion desk and Customer Service Desk, Portofino Restraunt, Smeralda Restraunt.

You can enter/exit the Urbano theater on deck 3, 4 or 5, you will just be on one of the 3 stories of the theater. You can all so enter the restraunts from deck 3 or 4, but deck 3 is the main entrance. IF you are going to the Portofino restraunt you should take the middle elevator or stairs to deck 3. IF you are going to the Smeralda restaurant you should take the AFT elevator to deck 3. Deck 3 is split up, you cant get from front to back on it, but you can walk outside the length of the ship to get from front to back. This is the wooden plank deck you can walk underneath the lifeboats and sit outside and relax.

Deck 4 - Theater, Photo area, Library, Disco, Internet Cafe and Chapel. Ofcourse the 2 restaurants are also on this deck. outside deck 4 are the lifeboats, all the muster stations, but you can walk from front to back outside on this deck. inside you cannot, it is split up by the restraunts like deck 3.

Deck 5 is where its at. everything is on deck 5 and you can walk the ship front to back on deck 5. but there is no external deck on deck 5. deck 5 has all the bars, the casino, arcade, art gallery, shops and top floor of the theater. Trick to deck 5 is in the middle portion, you can only get by on the starboard (rigth) side. Dont ask me why.

Deck 6, 7 & 8 - Cabins, like decks 1 & 2.

Deck 9 is the main floor of the sun deck and the main floor of the buffet. To get to the buffet, take the middle or aft elevator to deck 9. The middle part of deck 9 is the sundeck. The front part of deck 9 are more cabins.

Deck 10 has the second floor of the buffet, more eating space. It also is a sundeck and wraps around overlooking deck 9. The front part is more cabins.

Deck 11 are only accessable by stairs or the front and rear elevators, not the middle. the rear deck 11 has a jogging track, bocci ball, tennis and basketball courts. Front part of deck 11 is where you can look out the front of the ship. it also has the weight room and salon there too, and cabins.

Deck 12 is the highest you can go, split up in front and back like deck 11, no elevators go there, you can only get there by walking up stairs from deck 11.

Sorry about the length but I hope this helps out for thoes who like it. More side tips include...

Odd # rooms are on the right (starboard) side and even #'s are on the left (port) side.

There are deck maps posted next to most elevators and the direction the ship is pointed on the picture IS posted AS the ship sits.

It is very easy to get turned around by taking an elevator, so before you get in the elevator, make a mental note and point which way is forward, then when you get out, remember that same direction is still forward ;) it helps trust me :) - Many times i took an elevator and proceeded to walk to the front of the ship only to find out i was walking to the back.

imho - Jim

hi jim

thank you for your wonderful detail of the magica...

I noticed you said its your first rccl cruise...i think you will find their ships easy to navigate. I have been on the voyager, explorer and the navigator. I am not sure if u tvl w/kids or not, but the solarium pool is very very nice, and the pool is very easy to enter with steps and just a very pleasant area. the ice skating show is a dont miss as well, which i am sure u have done your reading on the other thread with rccl. enjoy your cruise...i will be on the magica on april 15th and is my first with them.
