Photo Review: SH Diana 11/4 - 11/14/2023 Mombasa to Maputo

We had the pleasure to be onboard Swan Hellenic´s new SH Diana from Mombasa to Maputo. Our port stops were Aldabra and Assumption Island (Outer Islands, Seychelles) and Nosy Be, Mahajanga, Morondava and Toliara in Madagascar.

 

My photo intense review starts with the ship itself. It´s a deck by deck description. The text is in German but usually an automatic translation works pretty well. And there are still plenty of photos ;-).

Part 2 covering the extra costs is online. This entry includes the bar menu although most beverages including cocktails are included. You can also order cocktails which are not on the menu with no extra cost as long as they are made with the included spirits.

First entry of the actual trip - a couple of photos of the pre cruise hotel which was included - unfortunately we had heavy rain so we weren´t really able to use the amenities of the hotel.

This is a nice ship that I have never considered.  I'm glad I came across this post when I was reading the Havila Norway posts!  Thank you for the great photos and information about your trip and this ship.

Day 2 is online - we finally board the SH Diana an leave Mombasa for the Seychelles.

Day 3 is a seaday from Mombasa to Aldabra. Nevertheless, a lot to do onboard!

On day 4  we have reached Aldabra, Seychelles. This remote atoll has only a research station plus 150,000 giant turtoises. A mere 900 people are visiting this atoll per year. We were offered three different walk and opted for the backpath tour to see endemic birds and more.

We start day 5 with a zodiac tour at Aldabra and continue to Assumption Island for snorkeling (or just an afternoon at the beach).

On day 6 we reach our first port in Madagascar. On Nosy Komba we visit the black lemurs.

Day 7 sees us in Mahajanga, Madagascar, where we have an extensive city tour.

The cruise continues on day 8 with a relaxing day at sea and a visit to the bridge.

 

There will be a longer break now - too much work. But the review will continue.

Here we go... Day 9 and another port stop. Today the SH Diana is anchoring near Morondava and we are visiting the Baobab Avenue and the local market.

On day 10 we have our last port stop in Toliara, Madagascar, where we are visiting the Reliana Spiny Forest Reserve.

Day 11 is a seaday to Maputo - not that exciting. I will also add the link to day 12 tomorrow but that´s just the trip back home and some sights of Maputo from the ship.

The last entry of my review is covering the arrival in Maputo and the Long journey back home.
