Rare Ferry_Watcher Posted February 6 #151 Share Posted February 6 Hey Friends, I am sitting at the vacation house at Poipu Beach (Kauai) about 7:30 PM and what do I see off in the distance? I pull up my trusty Marine Traffic app and it tells me that it is the Koningdam! Hope you are having a great cruise. It was so cool to see you from the vacation rental. Safe voyage! Watch the full video here: https://youtu.be/_i2MuGclAzA #HollandAmericaLine #CruiseLife #AccessibilityAtSea Since I subscribed to your YouTube channel, it showed up this morning in my YouTube feed. I watched it during my morning workout on the recumbent bike. Made the time go by quickly. Tailor on board! Makes sense. Thanks for posting.

badtwin Posted February 6 #157 Share Posted February 6 We will be on Koningsdam April 27 for its first trip up to Alaska this year. I have been enjoying this thread to get up to speed on current conditions on this ship. We were on her in 2018. I would really like to see more menus (we are mdr people mostly) and food porn if you have the time. I do understand that someone might want to enjoy their cruise instead of working on a travelogue for those of us living vicariously. Dailies are interesting too but I suspect yours are more tailored to current venue. Hope your sea conditions improve. Thanks

Rare misguy Posted February 6 Author #160 Share Posted February 6 Here is a picture from the ship of the Napali Coast from the Koningsdam yesterday. This is a rare treat since cruising Napali takes special permission. 16

Rare misguy Posted February 7 Author #162 Share Posted February 7 Yesterday, we were in Honolulu, and again today. Yesterday, we just purchased passes for two days on the HOHO bus. Yesterday, we went to the SE part of the island on the Blue line, I would highly recommend that trip. The scenery is amazing. We did stop at the Aquarium and while it is small, it was very interesting, and it is only 5 dollars for seniors or individuals with disabilities. Today we are doing the red line which is mostly historical and tourist destinations. 8

Rare misguy Posted February 8 Author #164 Share Posted February 8 The weather both yesterday and today was really good. We did the red line this morning, and Cheryl had a bad night so we just made the circuit and got off at the Aloha Tower and walked back to the ship. It is looking rainy but we will see. 1

Is it on line or close to where the ship docks? It sounds like something we’d like to do as we have no set plans for Honolulu. Thank you.

Oerhaps you can book it there on line .worth the try .It does stop at the Aloha tower which is very close to the ships pier . You can go oto Peral Harbor on it .The Navy launch& movie is free to any one who wants to see the Memorial which stradles the sunken USS Arizona .Sad that so many good men perished in that shio . you can also tour the Battle ship where the end of the war was signed by the Japanese & US led forces . The tour of the Missouri Battle shio is not free ,You van book it on line . One thing we highly recommend to people who have not done this is to book the Polynesian cultural Canter & if possible book ther Super ambassador .Iy is amazing all day tour ,luau& show in the evening . You will get the best seats at all events .You need 2 days in port on Oahu to do the Polynesian cultural Center We been to the Bishiop Museum which is definitely worth while to see near to the ship a shirt ride . Then there is the iolani palace another short ride .both very worth while to see .Uber or lyft to get to these places .Get another couple & split the fare . We used to go often to Honolulu but haven’t been in probably 20 years. I’m just not sure how far places are to walk from where our ships docks but maybe will find out when on the ship soon and decide to book something or wing it like we planned. We’ve been to all the major sites in the past including Pearl Harbour etc. We are seniors from Canada and don’t do Uber etc. It’s either walk if not too far or bus. Canadianbear there are buses in honolulu as well .Not sure that they can drop you off near the Bishop museum ;as a example . We recall the entrance was not on or near a bus route but truly not far from the ship dock . If you have never been to the Bishop museu ,it is more than woth the visit . you can google it for more info . Taking the HOHO bus is a very good option . Even though we have been there many times we always get to see & do different things We hope your cruise is smooth & fun Aloha Cliff

GTVCRUISER Posted February 9 #174 Share Posted February 9 The City Bus #20 will take you to the Waikiki area , the Bus stop is about 1 block from the cruise ship terminal entrance 10
Rare misguy Posted February 9 Author #175 Share Posted February 9 I am sure we will try using the city bus next time. I am going to work on a guide using the HOHO system and identifying the accessible options to think about at each stop.
