Are there many cruises that take in 100+ countries and has anyone done one?

The 2019/20 Viking World Cruise lasted 245 days R/T London, only visiting 59 countries. They did visit over 100 ports.

Having been in many of the World's port, I would be surprised if 100 countries in the World had a seaport capable of even handling smaller cruise ships, and based on current events, are considered safe to visit.

The RCCL 270+ night cruise is visiting 65 countries.

Therefore, I am not aware of any World Cruise visiting > 100 countries and not sure if it is even possible.

There are 193 countries that are members of the UN + 2 observer non-member countries. 44 of those are landlocked in addition, not every country has a port that is accessible by a larger cruise ship.

I would estimate that an average world cruise could visit about 50 countries. On the HAL 2023 WC, we had ~65 ports in 128 days but several were in the same country.

We were on Oceania Insignia for 200+ days last year for the world cruise + a Caribbean cruise at the front end.  The world cruise alone was 198 days.  We were at sea for about 80 of those days … and the balance was ports of call.  We hit 40-45 countries … several countries had more than 1 stop — for example Brazil and Japan each had about 10 stops, Mexico and Chile had 6-7 stops — and 20 or so were overnight stays.

If you go to the website of the companies offering world cruises, you can do the math on countries and compare them.

There are 195 countries in the world, 133 countries boarder the sea. Many wont have ports to handle cruise ships, and many cruise ships would never visit certain places like North Korea.

Highly unlikely that you will ever be able to go on world cruise and visit more than 100 countries.
