Cleo21 Posted March 13 #1 Share Posted March 13 We will be in Juneau in mid June, taking a 2.5 hour Mendenhall Glacier Excursion offered by the cruise ship. We'll have about 5 hours left over to look around after the excursion. Are there any sights, shopping, restaurants that are walkable from the cruise terminal? Don't want to do another excursion but would love to walk around a bit. Thanks for any info!
dfilpus Posted March 13 #2 Share Posted March 13 The cruise docks in Juneau are mostly adjacent to town. There is a ton of shops, bars, restaurants and museums within walking distance. There is an aerial tram that takes you up to top of a mountain, which is nice if the weather is clear. There is one cruise dock, the AJ Dock, that is a twenty minute walk from the main dock area. The cruise line should have a shuttle in that case.
SightCRR Posted March 14 #3 Share Posted March 14 Do a search of the Whale Project and AK museum. Both close to the Douglas Island Bridge. People have raved about the Hanger restaurant (very close to the seaplane dock) on the way. Nice webcam views here. Rare Crew News Posted March 21 #5 Share Posted March 21 A cable car ride up to Mount Roberts starts near the pier and offers an amazing view of the area. Mount Roberts is also the home of Lady Baltimore, a permanently injured bald eagle, that will look you in the eye from just a few feet away. nordicacres Posted March 21 #6 Share Posted March 21 Is there a way to determine where your ship will dock? I located several different schedules, but they only show the ships and their times in port. Thanks!
