Rare Funboy Posted May 3 #1 Share Posted May 3 Having never been on a Fred Olsen ship...does the Bolette have a casino. Some say no and cruise mapper says yes on deck 5.

The Fred Olsen site deck plans show the former casino area as being part of the Morning Light pub and lounge with no casino. There is a card room but that is not for gambling. As far as I know Fred Olsen don't have casinos. Still cruising with them this summer though and i will get my Blackjack fix on P&O a month later. July morning Posted May 3 #3 Share Posted May 3 We don't use casino on any ship but on Bolette there was a card table that we walked past in the evening, for the life of me I can't remember what games they had just know some people were betting and had casino chips! It was near the Morning Light lounge, Sorry can't be more helpful 😂
tring Posted May 5 #4 Share Posted May 5 (edited) They had got rid of the very small casino tables post COVID, but last I heard in November, they had re started a trial one on Balmoral only. Not sure of the current situation, but you could ring head office and ask. Very little interest for casino services on Fred, so unlikely to be much there, if any tbh. Can’t recall if that was on Bolette or not. Regards.
terry2 Posted May 5 #6 Share Posted May 5 You don't say which country you are from. So assuming that it isn't the UK, you need to be aware that the ability to gamble is commonplace in the UK - with lots of betting shops on the high street, and lots of online gambling firms. So the ability to gamble on a ship has little interest to most UK customers.

Yes we were on last year as well and there were not any slots. Something new?

On Black Watch, for instance, there was a blackjack table and a roulette table kind of just in the corridor. No slots though.

That was the case pre COVID, though they got rid of those gaming tables after the shutdown. More recently they had started a trial casino on one ship, I think possibly Balmoral, but not sure, though that information is now a number of months out of date. Basically we spoke to a senior member of staff we knew in Dec last year and they were doing the trial casino on I e ship to see if it increased revenue, which they clearly need. No idea of how things went forward after that as not been on Fred over the last few months. TBH Fred has changed in the last year or two, with more shorter cruises and new to cruise passengers, so may just be a possible revenue maker now, when it was not previously. If it is something important for anyone, I suggest ringing head office to ask, though of course what is in place now, may change. steve_c Posted August 14 #13 Share Posted August 14 (edited) I’ve been on a few cruises, but not on the Bolette specifically. From what I’ve heard, Fred Olsen ships don’t typically have full casinos like you might find on other cruise lines. Sometimes there’s a small area with slot machines or electronic games, but it’s not always guaranteed. Cruise Mapper might be outdated or referring to a different setup that isn’t there anymore. If you’re really into casino games, you might want to consider playing online instead. I’ve found that it’s more convenient and offers a lot more variety. I usually play on tomslot88 because it’s easy to access, and I can enjoy my favorite games anytime, whether I’m on land or at sea. It’s a good alternative if you’re not sure what the ship will offer.
