kalkal Posted May 9 #1 Share Posted May 9 Will be on enchanted princess in June stopping in Belize. Any recommendations for an easy activity. Any nearby beaches. Visited ruins before and tours would be to long. Help me plan the day.

heatherl2 Posted May 10 #3 Share Posted May 10 (edited) King David, we took his tour to Altun Ha Mayan ruins & Howler Monkey Sanctuary. We were the only ones at the monkey sanctuary. We also stopped for lunch for local cuisine. It was a great day! He has other options. Edited May 10 by heatherl2
mtnesterz Posted May 10 #4 Share Posted May 10 The one thing I learned on this past cruise, this past month, on the Enchanted and which included Belize, was just how different we all are in our tastes and how Princess tries to meet them all to varying degrees. So I cannot recommend a tour to you, don't know your tastes. On the website, you can see what is offered, but be sure to look at the time to travel to the location. The cave tubing mentioned above incurs a lengthy bus ride each way. Agree it sounds like fun! It is a 20 minute or so tender to the dock on catamarans. We nosed around the shops at the dock about a half hour at the dock and returned to the ship. There are 4 docks, be sure you return to the same dock for your return. TTEllis Posted May 10 #7 Share Posted May 10 Spend your day at Goffs Caye. Been to the destination twice both times booked a tour to Goffs and will never do anything else when I'm visiting this destination. Have fun.😎

I think it is just a drive through Belize on the way (it is a Sunday), but had not realised it is a tender transfer. Can you remember how long the drive was to Altun Ha and if there were any toilets once ashore, before getting on the coach? Our cruise line did not offer your combined tour. I believe it was about an hour or so from the cruise terminal to Altun Ha. There were bathrooms there. I believe there were also bathrooms in the cruise terminal. You can choose to do the Belize Zoo or Howler Monkey Sanctuary. We heard the zoo is also a great place to visit with mostly animals that are native to Belize. Another idea… they let us bring new school supplies to donate to a school. We brought a small bag so my daughter could personally deliver it.

So I assume we will be tendering from the ship to a cruise terminal, which makes sense as a lot of big ships seem to call there now. We prefer to stick with the ship's trips for tender ports, so have booked the Altun Ha one for 10.30am. They do offer a trip to the howler monkey sanctuary and the zoo, but the only review said they only spent about ten minutes at the sanctuary and that the zoo was not well run, so put us off, but I may look into it further. We can cancel booked excursions until three days pre cruise, so the end of December for us.
cruiseaholic777 Posted July 13 #12 Share Posted July 13 Goffs Cay is very small but we really enjoyed it. I would do it again. It wasn't offered by our cruise line so I booked it in the building at the end of the pier.
