Boiler Cruiser Posted July 19 #1 Share Posted July 19 Has anyone had experience visiting Alta, Norway on their own, rather than take a shore excursion? Is it worthwhile to get off the ship and walk around on your own and explore the town rather than take an excursion? Are there good places for shopping or getting lunch? BTW - I will be there in late summer. Thanks.

From the cruise terminal by bus to the bus station in the center of Alta and from there another bus to the museum. Perfect public transport and the carvings, museum and surroundings are all absolutely worthwhile. In the museum they serve coffee etc etc. and is a nice shop (local silver products f.e.).
