Currency in Aruba

Recommended Posts

I read that the currency in Aruba is the florin. Will we have to exchange money when we get into port, or can we use the American dollar? If we don't exchange, do we have to be careful to make sure we're getting the right price on things? Thanks for any help on this.

The primary currency in Aruba in florin, however everywhere you go accepts US money. All of the shops in port have their prices in US dollars and they prefer cash to anything else (one woman actually gave my friend attitude for using a travlers check). If you go to any of their local/smaller shops, you may receive some florin change, however if you would rather not keep it, you can exchange it at any establishment. You will not need to exchange your money, just take cash or a credit card.
