MJD55 Posted August 15 #1 Posted August 15 (edited) We're sailing from Auckland and the ship will be there for the first two days. We are thinking of spending some time on the south island and want to ensure we get to the ship when boarding is open. Can anyone shed some light on what times it is possible to board. Thanks Edited August 15 by MJD55
Strangford Posted August 15 #2 Posted August 15 Embarkation is from 11am for everyone - you will see priority cabin access times on this chart which I copied from the Cabin Comparison thread. Cabins may be ready earlier than the times stated but reading from other posts, a general announcement is usually only broadcast when all cabins are ready.
Jim Avery Posted August 15 #3 Posted August 15 In our experience any time the ship is in port overnight boarding is all night. Crew comes and goes at all hours. 1
Rare longterm Posted August 15 #4 Posted August 15 On our recent BIE cruise, which left for Bergen on July 4th, we were supposed to board the ship in Greenwich. However, because of high winds, the ship docked at Tilbury. As a result, because we'd already planned to spend the day in Greenwich, we didn't get to the ship until 8:45pm, which was no problem at all. I did take the added precaution of calling the ship to confirm that boarding that late wouldn't be a problem.

Not sure when you are going We are going to go in Jan 26. Have 2 nights in Auckland, and 2 in Sydney. Did you get another port or a day at sea? Currently planning a pre cruise trip to the south island.
